Good to know: Quadruple Cord Coil – What You Should Understand

Did you know that while cord around the neck happens in 20-30% of pregnancies, a quadruple cord coil (four loops of the umbilical cord) is extremely rare, affecting less than 1% of pregnancies?

While most babies born with a cord around the neck are safe, multiple tight loops can increase the risk of cord compression, which may affect blood and oxygen flow to the baby. This can result in complications like fetal distress during delivery.

⚠️ What are the risks?
• Cord compression leading to decreased blood and oxygen supply
• Potential fetal heart rate abnormalities
• Increased risk of preterm labor

How to prevent it?
• Regular prenatal check-ups — monitoring is key
• Early detection of cord issues via ultrasound
• Timely interventions based on fetal well-being

A true miracle baby. đź’–

Baby Ezekiel was born with a tight quadruple cord coil, an extremely rare occurrence that occurs in less than 1% of pregnancies. On top of this, Maam Ruth Faith had been admitted earlier for preterm labor, but thankfully, everything aligned and the baby reached near-term.

Despite the challenges, he was delivered safely via CS due to non-reassuring fetal heart rate pattern, but we’re so grateful that he made it into this world strong and healthy.

Congratulations, Maam Ruth and Sir Patrick, on this beautiful and victorious moment. Your little one is already a proof of strength and perfect timing.

It wasn’t just about getting pregnant, but about carefully planning every step, making sure everything aligned just right. They waited for January 2026 for their husband’s return, knowing they’d be able to start this new chapter together. ❤️

The months of planning, the follow-ups, and the waiting finally paid off on February 12, 2026, when the home pregnancy test showed two lines. That moment of excitement was confirmed just a few days later with a blood test. :)
