Our sincere gratitude to the Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte through the leadership of Gov. Lyndon Barbers Page, the Provincial Health Office SDN under the supervision of Dr. Maria Isabel Bertulfo-Makinano and her staff, and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO-Surigao del Norte) for their invaluable assistance in the safe and timely transfer of a mental health patient from General Luna, Siargao last April 16, 2026 to the Southern Philippines Medical Center – Institute of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine (SPMC-IPBM) in Davao City.
We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Mayor Johnson Sajulga and Vice Mayor Dra. Romina Rusillon-Sajulga MinMin GL for ensuring that our patients are well taken care of, and to the Generallunamps Siargao for their coordination and support throughout the process.
This experience underscores a critical reality: mental health care
requires timely, coordinated, and compassionate action across multiple sectors. No single office can address these needs alone. Strong inter-agency collaboration is essential to ensure that patients in crisis are managed safely, referred appropriately, and given access to specialized care when needed. Through unified efforts, we uphold not only patient safety, but also dignity and continuity of care.
