π RHU Baluan Strengthens Local Health Programs Through 2025 Program Implementation Review
Barangay Baluan, General Santos City β The Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Baluan successfully conducted its 2025 Program Implementation Review (PIR) on October 23, 2025, at the Barangay Baluan Session Hall, gathering key health stakeholders from the barangays of Baluan, Buayan, and Ligaya.
The activity served as an important platform to evaluate accomplishments, share best practices, and identify areas for improvement in delivering primary health care services. It was attended by RHU health staff, Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), and the Kagawad on Health of the three barangays.
The session opened with welcome remarks and rationale delivered by Maricris Togon, RN, followed by presentations of annual health program accomplishments from RHU Baluan, Buayan BHS, and Ligaya BHS. Highlights included achievements in maternal and child health, nutrition, immunization, environmental sanitation, mobile blood donation, and Animal Bite Treatment Center services.
Program coordinators also presented innovative and community-driven best practices, emphasizing collaboration, community participation, and local initiatives that strengthen the delivery of public health services. Each barangay discussed its issues, challenges, and recommendations to further improve health program implementation.
Representing their respective barangays, Hon. Lady Alsy Mamalumpong, PAFR (Baluan); Hon. Marieta Mission (Buayan); and Hon. Montasir Sinsuat (Ligaya) reaffirmed their commitment to health promotion and advocacy, actively sharing insights and recommendations to address local health concerns. Their engagement reflects the strong partnership between the RHU and the Barangay Councils in advancing community-based health programs.
The Rural Health Unit of Baluan, serving the three barangays of Baluan, Buayan, and Ligaya, also expressed its deep gratitude to the Barangay Councils, headed by their respective Punong Barangays, for their unwavering support and commitment. Their dedication goes beyond the provision of medical supplies and medicinesβthey also ensure the deployment of capable and well-equipped health workers in every purok and take an active role in addressing health issues and concerns. This unwavering support stands as a true testament to their shared commitment to building healthier and more resilient communities.
Also present were Ms. Arlene Ogates, Sanitary Inspector, and Ms. Jenelyn Calanao, RND, Nutritionist, from the City Health Office, who provided valuable technical guidance and commendations to the participating health teams.
In his closing message, Dr. Roland Jay F. Basmillo, RHU Baluan Head, emphasized the importance of collaboration and shared accountability among health workers, barangay officials, and the RHU team. He encouraged everyone to continue working together toward a stronger, more responsive, and people-centered primary health care system.
The 2025 Program Implementation Review concluded with renewed commitment and strengthened partnerships in advancing the health and well-being of the people of Baluan, Buayan, and Ligaya.
