🌟 Occupational Therapy in Action

What an inspiring day! 💛 Our recent parent seminar brought together families, therapists, and advocates — all coming together to help every child thrive.

Through Occupational Therapy, we talked about practical tools and simple ways that bring hope with clarity, helping parents better understand and celebrate their child’s journey.

A heartfelt thank you to Mr. John Ray Lucas, for sharing his knowledge and creating a space where everyone felt seen, heard, and supported. 🙏

And to all the parents who joined us — thank you! Your love, courage, and openness inspire us every single day. 💕

🌟 Level Up Therapist Update! 🌟

We’re thrilled to share that our team recently completed Executive Function Training with the amazing Mr. John Ray M. Lucas — an esteemed Occupational Therapist and educator who continues to inspire the OT community! 👏

Mr. Lucas has extensive experience in pediatric & adolescent OT practice, inclusive education, and community development. He teaches at leading universities in the Philippines, serves as a guest lecturer abroad, co-founded the Kabahagi Center for Children with Disabilities, and co-authored House Bill No. 3379, which promotes a national autism program.

Not all kids learn and grow the same way — and that’s okay. 💛

For some children, development unfolds naturally. They jump into activities, play with ease, and pick things up quickly.

But for neurodivergent kids — children with
special needs — the path can look very different. What seems fun or simple for most kids might feel overwhelming, confusing, or even upsetting for them.

It’s not about being “difficult” or “misbehaving.” It’s about experiencing the world through a different lens.

💡 What may look like “avoidance” or “withdrawal” is often a sign that something doesn’t feel safe, manageable, or meaningful.

-Maybe their brain processes things differently.
-Maybe their body feels out of sync.
-Maybe it’s just too much all at once.

That’s why connection comes before correction — and understanding before expectations.

When we slow down and meet these kids where they are, with patience and the right support, we create space for real growth, joyful learning, and deeper connection.

Feeding challenges aren't just "bad behavior" — they're a child's way of coping with something deeper. 💛

Some kids experience:
• Sensory sensitivities — “This food feels scary or overwhelming.”
• Motor challenges — “It’s hard for me to chew or swallow.”
• Oral motor planning difficulties — “I don’t know what to do with the food once it’s in my mouth.”

✨ With understanding and the right support, mealtimes can become more positive and less stressful — for everyone.

This is what we work on in our OT Feeding Sessions. 💬🍽️

Napakasymbolic ng waiting para sa autism community.

Wait List

Unahin na natin sa assessment ng Developmental Pediatrician. Mahirap magpaschedule, 95% nasa wait list muna kayo. It can even take years. Yes. Plural.

Waiting Time

Madalas mong maririnig ang salitang “waiting time”. This pertains to our kids’ ability to wait or lack of it, to understand that there’s a structure and sequence to things.

Kids with autism are usually visual beings, it’s a struggle for them to understand concepts that are abstract such as time. It’s always about the now, hence the challenges brought by waiting.

Pero sa lahat ng waiting, ito ang pinakapaborito ko:

Ang mga magulang na nag aantay sa labas ng center.

Sa mga therapy centers, you’ll meet all sorts of parents and guardians. Iba iba. Pero lahat yan, you’ll sense the faith and desperation seeping through the silence as they wait.

Habang lahat nag aantay para sa mga anak na matapos ang therapy session, OT man o Speech o ABA o SPED, we’re also waiting for grander often daunting things.

Yung matawag na mommy at daddy.
Yung mapotty train.
Yung makihalubilo sa ibang bata.
Yung matuto magsulat.
Yung matuto magsintas.
Yung matuto mag yes at no.
Yung matuto sumagot sa WHAT, WHERE, WHO, WHEN, at higit sa lahat sa WHY.
Yung magkaron ng eye contact.
Yung magkaron ng sense of danger.
Yung matutong magmanage pag nagkakaron ng sensory overload.
Yung wag na umiyak next session.
Yung magtry nang kumain ng ibang food.

Yung hope ng mga magulang sa center? It’s such a driving force for everyone lalo na pag may nakakausap ka.

Nalalaman mo kung gaano kayo kaiba at kapareho. Kung gaano kababaw ang luha nyo, (normal na lang ata may nag iiyakan sa waiting area) kung gaano nyo gusto kumayod ng bonggaaaa dahil mahal ang therapy, at higit sa lahat, kung gaano nyo gusto manatiling malakas at buhay kasi nananalig kang darating din yung time na kakayanin ng mga bata mamuhay ng maayos, mabuti, at may dignidad, all on their own.

Dahil worth it lahat, worth it yung pagod, worth it yung puyat, worth it mag-antay, worth it sila.
