Did you know that there is a recipe for a healthy and successful relationship?

According to John Bowlby, a renowned psychologist and pioneer of attachment theory, trust, honesty, respect, communication, effort, and collaboration form the foundation of healthy and secure relationships. Together, they build emotional safety, stability, and connection—essential ingredients for love that lasts.

Trust is the cornerstone of a healthy relationship. Trust allows partners to feel secure and confident in each other’s intentions. It creates a safe emotional space where vulnerability and openness can thrive.

Honesty is the secret ingredient to a lasting connection. Perhaps this is one of the most challenging concepts to embrace. We, as individuals, often feel uncomfortable showing vulnerability to others, even our partners, because we want to avoid being viewed as weak. But being truthful fosters transparency and emotional intimacy. It prevents misunderstandings and helps both partners grow together authentically.

Mutual respect is the perfect blend of love and individuality. This is perhaps one of the most important foundations of a relationship, as when you provide value to each other's boundaries and opinions, it becomes a gateway to ensuring equality and preventing power struggles in relationships. It also ensures that boundaries are valued and not crossed.

Communication is perhaps one of the most overlooked recipes in a relationship. Having open, empathetic communication helps partners express feelings, resolve conflicts, and understand each other better—strengthening emotional bonds. When a couple communicates and both remain open and empathetic, seeing and understanding each other's feelings and views becomes easier.

Effort and collaboration is the other most overlooked recipe in a healthy relationship. People forget that effort is a continuous thing in a relationship; it shows that both parties still care for each other, and collaboration ensures the partnership between the couple—ensuring that you two are in the relationship together.

A healthy relationship isn’t about perfection—it’s about mixing the right ingredients with care, patience, and love. When trust, honesty, respect, communication, effort, and collaboration come together, they create a recipe that’s comforting, fulfilling, and built to last.

Healthy relationships take time, practice, and the right mix of ingredients. And sometimes an outsider's perspective, from someone who can remain unbiased while having the right evidence-based tools, can help your relationship bloom. 💜💛 Today, we stand in support of individuals with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). 💛💜

DLD is a hidden condition that affects how a person understands and uses language — yet it’s often misunderstood or overlooked. Imagine having so much to say, but struggling to find the words. 🗣

This , let’s raise our voices for those who need help being heard.
Let’s listen with patience, speak with kindness, and create a world where every voice — no matter how it sounds — is valued and understood.

Together, we can make the invisible visible. 💜💛

🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀

It affects millions of people around the world, with 2.2 million women being diagnosed in 2022 alone. It's the most common type of cancer in women, with 157 out of 185 countries leading it. This is 1 in 12 women in countries with very high HDI and 1 in 71 women who lose their lives and 1 in 27 women in countries with low HDI, of whom 1 in 48 women die. (WHO, 2025)

Women are the strongest breast cancer risk factor, with 99% of cases occurring in women and 0.5% to 1% occurring in men. Physical symptoms can include:
⚪ a thickening or lump in the breast that is frequently painless,
⚪ a change in the breast's size, shape, or look,
⚪ dimpling, redness, pitting, or other skin abnormalities,
⚪ changes in the appearance of the ni**le or the ar**la, the skin around the ni**le, and/or
⚪ abnormal or bloody ni**le fluid.

Being diagnosed with breast cancer is a life-altering moment for those who experienced it. Women diagnosed with breast cancer often experience mental health symptoms, typically a sense of isolation, loneliness, anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress.

If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with breast cancer, don't hesitate to seek support. Most times the burden of being diagnosed can lessen the load when you have others to carry it with you. Moreover, please remember that it’s not your fault; cancer is never a choice for anyone. You did nothing to deserve it. You’re facing a lot from just one news and remember to give yourself some grace and allow space to heal, emotionally and physically.

Let us educate ourselves, raise awareness about breast cancer and how it affects women's mental health, and provide support to the people who experience it.

The recent earthquakes that struck Cebu, Baguio, and Davao Oriental remind us that disasters affect not only our surroundings but also our mental well-being. It’s normal to feel anxious, fearful, or unsettled after such events.

The shaking may have stopped, but the aftershocks within can linger. Your emotions are valid — whether that'd be from direct contact with the earthquake or watching the distressing news, it’s okay to feel scared and uneasy after everything.

We provided you with some reminders that can help if an earthquake occurs in your area. Moreover, take a moment to breathe, ground, and reconnect with yourself. We included simple mindfulness techniques like deep breathing and grounding exercises can help calm your body and mind.

Let’s take care of our minds as we rebuild our homes and communities.

Reach out for support, stay connected, and remember — healing doesn’t happen overnight, but it begins when we talk about it. Stay safe and always remember that you matter.

Corruption Is Not Just a Political Issue—It's a Mental Health Crisis.

Every stolen peso has a price. Not just in lost infrastructure or public services, but in the quiet suffering of millions who bear its emotional and psychological weight. It doesn’t just drain national budgets—it drains people’s hope.

Corruption affects our Mental Health significantly, specifically it makes us experience:
1. Daily stress and anxiety. Broken systems force people to navigate constant uncertainty, leading to chronic stress, frustration, and burnout.
2. Hopelessness and depression. When opportunities vanish and basic rights are denied, people lose confidence in their future—and in themselves.
3. The poverty-mental health cycle. Corruption perpetuates poverty, and poverty deeply worsens mental health which creates a loop that is hard to escape.
4. Broken trust and isolation. When fairness disappears, trust in institutions and one another erodes, communities fragment, and collective resilience weakens.

Ultimately, systemic neglect perpetuates a cycle of poverty and despair, which worsens the mental health crisis in society. This perpetuation of inequality and injustice further establishes the barriers to seeking help and support for those who need it most.

At A-Max Psychological Services, we recognize that fighting corruption is not only a political and economic imperative—it's a mental health emergency. We stand with the Filipino people and call for mindful, compassionate, and accountable governance.

By addressing the root causes of corruption and inequality, we can create a society where individuals feel empowered to seek help and support without fear of judgment or exploitation.

Together, we can break the cycle of corruption and despair and foster a community built on trust, fairness, and transparency, with leaders who serve the betterment of the country and our people.
