On December 1, 2025, we observe World AIDS Day. It is a critical moment to raise awareness and stand in solidarity with the estimated over 252,800 Filipinos living with HIV (PLHIV). There were 5,101 newly confirmed HIV-positive individuals reported in the first quarter of 2025, which is a 50% increase compared to the same period the previous year. Young individuals aged 15 to 34 years account for the majority of new infections, with sexual transmission as the predominant mode. As of March 2025, only about 55% of estimated PLHIV know their status, and only 66% of those diagnosed are currently on life-saving Antiretroviral Therapy (ART). Late diagnosis remains a serious challenge.

What You Can Do:
1. Know Your Status.
2. Practice Safe S*x.
3. Know your options.
4. Fight Stigma.

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) remains a significant public health concern worldwide. It can progress to Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), a stage where the body became highly vulnerable to infections and diseases. Despite this, it is important to emphasize that HIV is manageable, and individuals who are diagnosed early and receive proper treatment can live long, healthy, and productive lives.

In commemoration of World AIDS Day, the University Health Services, in partnership with Bulacan State University - Gender And Development Center and Republika Community Center by Usbong ng Bulakenyo Inc is strengthening its commitment to raising awareness and supporting the health and well-being of our campus community. As part of this global observance, we will be offering FREE and CONFIDENTIAL HIV TESTING on campus on December 01, 2025.

Through this initiative, we aim to provide accessible, safe, and stigma-free testing services to our students, faculty, and staff. Participants will undergo a brief assessment, pre-test counseling, rapid HIV testing, and post-test counseling conducted by trained professionals. All procedures and results will be handled with utmost confidentiality and care, with appropriate referrals provided when needed.

We encourage the entire university community to take part in this health service. Knowing one’s status not only empowers individuals to make informed decisions about their health but also contributes to a safer and more aware community.

For inquiries or further information, please reach out to us through our official page. Your health, privacy, and well-being remain our priority.
