🏥 RABIES AWARENESS MONTH – MARCH

In support of the nationwide campaign for Rabies Awareness Month, our institution joins the call to strengthen public awareness on rabies prevention and responsible pet ownership.

Rabies remains a 100% preventable yet 100% fatal viral disease once symptoms appear. It affects both animals and humans and is commonly transmitted through the bite, scratch, or saliva of an infected animal—most frequently dogs.

With the theme:

“Rabies-free na pusa’t a*o, kaligtasan ng pamilyang Pilipino.”

We emphasize that protecting our pets means protecting our families and communities.

🩺 IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT RABIES
📌 What is Rabies?

Rabies is a viral infection that attacks the central nervous system. Once clinical signs develop, the disease is almost always fatal. Immediate medical attention after exposure is critical.

📌 How is it Transmitted?

Animal bites (especially dogs)

Scratches that break the skin

Saliva contact with open wounds, eyes, nose, or mouth

🐶 RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP

To maintain rabies-free homes and communities, the following measures are strongly encouraged:

✔️ Annual vaccination of dogs and cats against rabies

✔️ Proper registration of pets with local authorities

✔️ Avoid allowing pets to roam freely

✔️ Immediate reporting of animal bites

✔️ Observation or quarantine of biting animals as advised

Pet vaccination is not only a legal obligation but a public health responsibility.

🚨 WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF ANIMAL BITE

Immediately wash the wound thoroughly with soap and running water for at least 15 minutes.

Apply antiseptic solution (e.g., povidone-iodine or alcohol).

Seek medical consultation immediately at the nearest Animal Bite Treatment Center (ABTC).

Do not apply traditional remedies or delay medical care.

Early post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) saves lives.

The Animal Bite Treatment Center (ABTC) of President Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Hospital (PRMMH) informs the public of its Injection Schedule for March 2026.

In line with our commitment to provide safe, accessible, and timely post-exposure prophylaxis for animal bite patients in the Province of Zambales, the following schedule shall be observed:

The President Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Hospital (PRMMH) is pleased to announce the conduct of the Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Training, including Basic Life Support (BLS) Training (3rd Batch), to be held on March 5–6, 2026 at the PRMMH Function Hall.

This two-day comprehensive training program is designed to equip healthcare professionals with updated knowledge, technical skills, and clinical competence in the management of cardiovascular emergencies. The course will emphasize evidence-based protocols and standardized resuscitation practices to improve patient survival and outcomes during critical events.

Course Coverage:

Basic Life Support (BLS):

• Recognition of cardiac arrest and respiratory failure
• High-quality Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Proper use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED)
• Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction
• Team-based response in emergency situations

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS):

• Systematic approach to cardiopulmonary emergencies
• Advanced airway management techniques
• Cardiac rhythm recognition and interpretation
• Defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion
• Pharmacologic management during resuscitation
• Post–cardiac arrest care
• Effective team dynamics and communication during code situations

The training will consist of structured lectures, hands-on skills demonstrations, simulation exercises, and competency assessments facilitated by qualified and experienced instructors.

This initiative forms part of PRMMH’s commitment to strengthening emergency preparedness, enhancing professional development, and promoting high standards of patient care within the hospital and the wider healthcare community.
