Post-Holiday Routine Reset
by PediaCare by Dr. Steph

Media Noche was a blast, but is your toddler currently living on a diet of hamon, cake, and late-night fireworks adrenaline? 🍬

The "Post-Holiday Slump" can make kids extra cranky and prone to getting sick.

Here is your 3-step reset guide:

1. The Water Swap:
Replace those leftover sodas and juices with plain water. Hydration is the first step to flushing out the toxins.

2. The 15-Minute Slide:
Move bedtime 15 minutes earlier every night until you hit their regular schedule.

3. Balanced Plates:
Reintroduce fiber-rich veggies to help their digestion bounce back. Cut back their intake on sweets like cakes, ice cream, and candy.

A steady routine isn't just for your sanity—it's the secret to a strong immune system!

Happy New Year, Iligan! 🎆

"A Fresh Start for Family Health"

Most people start today with a list of things to change, but at Pedia Care, we’re starting the year with a better commitment to growth.

Our goal this year remains the same: to unlearn, relearn, and learn more about how I, and our team of doctors, can provide what's best for your family. Parenting doesn't come with a manual, but it does come with a community.

In 2026, let’s focus on being intentional rather than perfect. Let’s keep our little ones healthy, safe, and thriving together!

Parenting Habits for a Healthy 2026

We often focus on the habits we want our children to build, but the most powerful lessons they learn are the ones they see us practicing every day.

As 2026 begins, consider shifting the focus from "perfecting" your child’s behavior to modeling the habits you want them to carry for life. Parenting isn’t just about the big milestones; it’s about the small, intentional rhythms created at home.

Here are three high-impact habits to consider building this year:

✨ The 3-Second Pause: When a tantrum or a spill happens, try to pause for three seconds before responding. This small habit helps you lead with calm instead of chaos, teaching your child how to regulate their own emotions by watching yours.

✨ Connection Windows: Children crave undivided attention more than toys. Dedicating just 15 minutes of screen-free time each day—where the phone is away and the focus is entirely on them—builds a foundation of security that lasts a lifetime.

✨ Visible Wellness: Children are mimics. If you want them to prioritize sleep, healthy eating, and boundaries, let them see you doing those things for yourself. Showing them that health is a priority for adults makes it a natural priority for them.

At Pedia Care by Dr. Steph, the goal remains the same: to unlearn, relearn, and learn more about how doctors and parents together can provide what's best for every family—keeping little ones healthy, safe, and thriving.

As we wrap up 2025, I’m not just looking at a new calendar—I’m looking forward to all the small, beautiful moments that make being a parent so rewarding.

Every new year brings its own set of challenges, but for 2026, I want us to focus on the wins. Whether it’s your baby’s first steps, a successful transition to solid foods, or finally getting a full night’s sleep—these are the milestones that matter.

My mission at Pedia Care by Dr. Steph has always been to keep learning. Whether it’s unlearning old habits or relearning the latest in pediatric care, I am committed to doing whatever it takes to provide the best for you and your family.

From my clinic family to yours, let’s make 2026 a year of less worry and more joy. We are ready for all the growth and laughter this new year has in store!

Only 1 Night Left! Is your Media Noche table "Toddler-Proof"? ✨👶

Tomorrow night is the big feast! While we prepare our 12 round fruits and favorite dishes, let's make sure the menu is safe for the smallest guests at the table.

📌 FACT: Choking is a leading cause of injury during holiday parties because adults are often distracted by socializing.

DR. STEPH'S MEDIA NOCHE CHECKLIST:
âś…The "Round Fruit" Rule: Grapes, lanzones, and longgan should always be peeled, seeded, and cut lengthwise into quarters for children under 4 years old. Never serve them whole.

âś…Sticky Foods: Be careful with biko, sapin-sapin, or tikoy. These are very sticky and can be difficult for toddlers to swallow safely.

âś…Alcohol Watch (for families that like to drink): Keep wine glasses and "shandy" drinks off coffee tables. Even a few sips of alcohol can cause a dangerous drop in blood sugar (hypoglycemia) for a small child.

Let’s end the year with full tummies and zero worries. See you all in 2026!

2 Nights Left! Is the celebration too loud for your baby’s ears?

We Filipinos love a loud New Year to drive away bad vibes—but for a baby or a toddler, those torotots, loudspeakers, and firecrackers can be terrifying and physically painful.

👶 Fact: A baby’s ear canal is smaller than an adult's, which means sound pressure is much higher in their ears. Sounds above 80-85 decibels can cause permanent damage, and a loud firecracker can hit 150 decibels instantly.

DR. STEPH'S SENSORY PREP:
✨The "Quiet Room": Designate an inner room in your house as a "Sound Sanctuary."
Close the windows and curtains to muffle the noise.
✨Ear Protection: If you are in a loud area, use infant-safe noise-canceling earmuffs.

📌Watch for Stress: If your child is crying inconsolably, covering their ears, or acting unusually clingy, they are likely experiencing sensory overload. Take them to a quiet space immediately.

A peaceful baby makes for a much happier New Year’s Eve for the whole family.
