The City Health Office under the Office of the City Mayor conducted a visit to Asia Pacific Medical Center–Iloilo (APMCI) on March 6, 2026, to observe and assess health and safety practices within the hospital.

During the visit, several commendable practices were recognized, particularly within the Nutrition and Dietetics Department, for its strict monitoring systems and exemplary food safety practices in patient meal preparation and service. These efforts demonstrate the department’s strong commitment to safe, high-quality, and patient-centered nutrition care, making it one of the leading dietary service units in the city.

Health Inspectors also commended other hospital areas for their efficient waste management systems and proper monitoring of infectious materials, reflecting APMCI’s dedication to maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant healthcare environment for patients, staff, and the community.

This recognition highlights APMCI’s continuous commitment to excellence, quality healthcare delivery, and adherence to the highest standards of safety and service.

Mr. Lam underscored the importance of integrating the IDDSI Framework into patient dietary management to standardize texture-modified diets and thickened liquids. As the first and pioneering hospital in Iloilo to adopt and implement IDDSI standards, APMCI ensures enhanced patient safety, reduced risk of aspiration, consistent interdisciplinary communication, and alignment with global best practices.

Through IDDSI integration, the NDD strengthens quality assurance, clinical excellence, and its commitment to safe, patient-centered nutrition care.

Ms. Neema McTomney, RND, MMedSci Hum Nutri highlighted the integration of IDDSI international standards in addressing patient dietary requirements at APMCI, emphasizing the critical role of multidisciplinary dysphagia management aligned with international best practices. She also showcased innovative experiments conducted by University of San Agustin Nutrition and Dietetics interns, transforming regular food preparations into appropriate texture-modified diets based on the IDDSI Framework.

Joining the summit were Chief Nutritionist-Dietitian Mr. Matthew Quidato, RND, MBATHM, FSCO, Clinical Dietitian Ms. Bea Ayupan, RND, and APMCI’s international dietetic intern from Mongolia, Ms. Otgontuul Tumurbaatar, reflecting the institution’s growing commitment to global collaboration and excellence in nutrition care.

In celebration of Philippine Heart Month, the Nutrition and Dietetics Department Batch 1 Interns of the University of San Agustin conducted a Heart Health Lecture for OPD patients on February 3, 2026. The activity focused on promoting heart-healthy nutrition and lifestyle practices to increase awareness and support disease prevention.

This initiative was carried out as part of the interns’ requirements for their Hospital Dietetics Practicum.
