GSMCI has been recommended for the issuance of the Certificate of Accreditation under the Mother-Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (MBFHI) program.
Launched by the Department of Health (DOH) in 1992, MBFHI aims to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding practices within hospitals across the Philippines.
The assessment was conducted by accreditors from the Department of Health Regional Office, with the team led by Maria Lizandra Sante, Nurse V.
The evaluation spanned two days, from November 6 to November 7, involving a detailed review of the hospitalโs policy and documentation, evaluation of care procedures, and interviews with both clinical and non-clinical personnel.
During the exit conference held on November 7, the DOH accreditor formally recommended GSMCI for accreditation, signifying that the facility demonstrated full compliance with the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding, the core standards mandated by the MBFHI program.
Leading the successful accreditation team was Chief of Clinics and Coordinator Dr. Rosalie Guzman, supported by Dr. Jennifer Buรฑol, Dr. Jea Uy, Dr. Mary Hope Gallego, and the head of the nursing department, Chief Nurse Kristine Sol Ganancial.
The initiative received the full institutional support of the hospital's management, including President Putli Jahallia Fuerte, Chief of Hospital Dr. Tomas Saiton Jr., and Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Carl Joseph Uy.
The issuance of the Certificate of Accreditation is the final step in recognizing GSMCIโs commitment to evidence-based practices that promote optimal maternal and infant health outcomes.
