Walk and Work Foundation celebrated Children’s Month at the center last November 15, 2025, together with 20 Children and Youth with Disabilities, their parents, and the foundation staff.

The day started with registration at 7:00 AM, followed by the program proper at 8:00 AM, which opened with a prayer. Afterwards, the staff of Walk and Work Foundation introduced themselves one by one so the children and parents could become familiar with them. Manager Ms. Lyn also welcomed everyone and thanked them for attending despite the bad weather.

At 8:30 AM, the discussions began.
The first topic, OSAEC (Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children), was presented by the Social Workers. After the session, the children were asked to share their learnings and takeaways.
The second topic focused on Mental Health Awareness, discussed by Ma’am Grace Alonday Agustin, Disability Affairs Assistant from the Alimodian LGU. Both topics were timely, relevant, and very important given today’s generation and current situations.

After the talks, a Poster Making Contest followed. The 20 participants were asked to count off from 1 to 4 to form four groups. Criteria for judging were thoroughly explained, and the contest theme centered on OSAEC. Each group was given 30 minutes to create their poster, guided by the following criteria:
• Creativity – 40%
• Relevance to the Theme – 30%
• Visual Impact and Presentation – 30%

Once the time was up, each group presented their work and judging commenced. Rankings were from 1st to 4th place, and all groups received prizes. After announcing the winners, each child received 5 kilos of rice as a token of appreciation. Lunch and snacks were also served to the children and their parents.

The vent concluded at 12:00 NN, with everyone going home happy, carrying new learning and a deeper appreciation of the topics discussed.

Walk and Work Foundation - Team Building Activity

Damires Hills, Janiuay, Iloilo | October 30, 2025

Last October 30, 2025, the Walk and Work Foundation – Iloilo Prosthetic Center staff, together with Dr. Jessie Villareal, President, held a team building activity at Damires Hills, Janiuay, Iloilo.

It was a wonderful day filled with fun and purpose — aimed at strengthening teamwork, camaraderie, trust, respect, and oneness among the members of the team. The serene and refreshing environment of Damires Hills provided the perfect backdrop to relax and unwind after weeks and months of dedicated work.

To enhance team bonding and get to know one another better, a series of games and activities were conducted.

The first game was a Question and Answer activity. A set of work-related and personal questions were prepared by the facilitator. A boiled egg was passed from one participant to another while music played in the background. When the music stopped, the person holding the egg drew a question and answered it. This continued until everyone, including the facilitators, had their turn. The game helped the participants know each other better — both personally and professionally — fostering deeper connections within the group.

The second activity focused on teamwork and problem-solving. The participants were divided into two groups and tasked to build a tall and strong structure using only 50 pieces of straw and masking tape. Each team brainstormed, shared ideas, and worked collaboratively to complete the challenge within the given time. Afterwards, both teams presented their structures and explained their individual contributions. The results were compared based on height and stability, highlighting the teams’ creativity, cooperation, and communication.

After the games and sharing of realizations, everyone enjoyed a sumptuous lunch together. In the afternoon, the group had free time to explore the area, take photos, and enjoy the scenic beauty of Damires Hills. The activity provided a refreshing break, allowing everyone to recharge and reflect on the value of teamwork.

At the end of the day, the team went home happy, relaxed, and grateful — bringing with them lasting memories and a stronger bond that will inspire continued collaboration and unity in their work.

Training on Home Management Program for Child Development
Cluster 3 – Brgy. Cagay Gym, Alimodian, Iloilo
October 15, 2025

The Walk and Work Foundation successfully conducted a Training on Home Management Program for Child Development for Cluster 3 parents on October 15, 2025, held at the Brgy. Cagay Gym in Alimodian, Iloilo.

The training began with an opening prayer, followed by the introduction of the Center staff and training facilitators. To energize participants and foster engagement, an interactive icebreaker game was conducted before the formal lecture. This was followed by a discussion of house rules and the setting of expectations related to learning outcomes, group interaction, and facilitator support. Facilitators ensured that all expectations were acknowledged and addressed throughout the session.

A group workshop focused on identifying the core areas of child development: Motor skills, Self-help skills, Language, Cognitive, Socio-emotional development.

Each group collaborated and presented their outputs based on the developmental milestones for various age groups. Points were awarded for correct answers to encourage participation and reinforce learning.

The session also tackled the early identification and detection of disabilities, including signs to watch for and methods of early intervention. The roles of physical therapy and the importance of inclusive education were also discussed in detail.

One of the key highlights of the training was the discussion on Home Management. The facilitator provided practical examples and conducted a live skit to demonstrate step-by-step procedures and guidelines, helping parents better understand how to apply the practices at home.

A post-evaluation activity followed, allowing participants to reflect on their learnings and provide feedback on the effectiveness of the training.

In addition, Physical Therapists and Social Workers conducted individual child assessments with parents of children with disabilities (PWDs), offering personalized guidance and recommendations based on the child's specific needs.

Before the training concluded, tokens and certificates were awarded to all attendees in recognition of their active participation. A group photo was taken to commemorate the day, capturing the spirit of learning and collaboration.

Participants expressed their appreciation and enthusiasm for the new knowledge and skills they gained, which they can now apply in caring for and supporting children and youth with disabilities.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Alimodian LGU, our committed partner, for their continued support and active participation in all our Community-Based Inclusive Development (CBID) trainings and activities.
