The Western Visayas Medical Center Department of Orthopaedics would like to congratulate its residents for a 100% passing rate for the Philippine Board of Orthopaedics Qualifying Examination, and its passers who took the Resident In Training Examination both held last October 19, 2025.

The department would also like to announce that the WVMC Department of Orthopedics has successfully passed the recent accreditation evaluation with an overall score of 92.695, and maintains its ACCREDITED status for the 4th consecutive year of Orthopedic Residency Training by the Philippine Board of Orthopedics.

Another first for the Department of Orthopaedics of Western Visayas Medical Center!

Last June 9 2025, the department yet again performed its successful case of Scoliosis Corrective Surgery under Intraoperative Neurophysiologic Monitoring after two decades since its last case.

The team headed by Dr Morano, Dr Tonogan and Dr Villaruel with Dr Escanillas and Dr Plaira can be seen in action during the procedure below.
