BARANGAY CAWAYAN AND KIBENTON INTEGRATED SCHOOL CLEAN-UP DRIVE

The Barangay Cawayan and Kibenton Council, together with Cawayan and Kibenton Integrated School, conducted a community-wide Clean-Up Drive aimed at promoting environmental cleanliness, public health, and community cooperation. This activity brought together barangay officials, teachers, learners, parents, and volunteers who worked hand-in-hand to remove waste, clear surroundings, and maintain a clean and safe environment.

The Clean-Up Drive covered school grounds, waiting sheds, pathways, drainage areas, and surrounding public spaces in Barangay Cawayan and Kibenton . Participants swept, collected garbage, trimmed grass, and removed possible mosquito breeding sites to support dengue prevention efforts.

This initiative strengthens community partnership and demonstrates the shared commitment of both the barangay and the school to maintain cleanliness, prevent diseases, and promote environmental responsibility among children and residents.

The activity successfully fostered unity (bayanihan) and served as a reminder that a clean community contributes to better health, safety, and quality of life for all.

DENGUE PREVENTION AND CONTROL IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF IMPASUG-ONG

The Municipality of Impasug-ong continues its strengthened efforts to prevent and control Dengue through coordinated actions in barangays, schools, households, and public spaces. Dengue remains a serious health concern, and the community’s active participation is essential in breaking the mosquito breeding cycle.

1. Community Clean-Up and 5S Strategy

The Local Government Unit (LGU), together with barangay officials, promotes the DOH 5S Strategy:
-Search and Destroy breeding sites
-Self-Protection Measures (use of repellents, proper clothing)
-Seek Early Consultation for fever and symptoms
-Support Fogging only in hotspot areas
Regular clean-up drives are encouraged in all barangays to eliminate stagnant water and maintain environmental sanitation.
-Sustain Hydration
Increase fluid intake

2. Strengthening Surveillance and Reporting

Health workers conduct continuous monitoring of suspected dengue cases. Residents are encouraged to immediately report fever or symptoms to their barangay health stations for early detection and management.

3. School and Household Awareness

Awareness campaigns are carried out in schools, households, and workplaces to educate the community on proper dengue prevention practices. IEC materials are distributed to ensure every family understands how to keep their environment mosquito-free.

4. Environmental Management

The municipality promotes the weekly “Search and Destroy Day” where households inspect and clean:
water containers
plant pots
roof gutters
garbage areas
areas where rainwater may collect

5. Community Participation

All residents are encouraged to actively join in preventing dengue by:
maintaining clean surroundings
covering water containers
disposing of unused items that collect water
cooperating with health personnel during inspections
