NSTP

National Service Training Program (NSTP) is a program aimed at enhancing civic consciousness and defense preparedness in the youth by developing the ethics of service and patriotism while undergoing training in any of its three program components. Its various components are specially designed to enhance youths active contribution to the general welfare. NSTP was supported by the newly established Republic Act No. 9163 or the NSTP Act 2001 which was established on July 23, 2001 by the Twelfth Congress First Regular Session. Drilon, President of the Senate, and Rep. Jose De Venecia, Speaker of the House of Representatives. It was approved by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on January 23, 2002. This Act was made to answer the movement to abolish ROTC and others to create reform of the program. The Act affirmed that the prime duty of the government was to serve and protect its citizens. In turn, it shall be the responsibility of all the citizens to defend the security of the State and because of this, the government may require each citizen to render personal, military or civil service. Recognizing the youth's vital role in national building, the State shall promote civic consciousness among the youth and shall develop their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual and social well being. It shall inculcate in the youth patriotism, nationalism and advance their involvement in public and civic affairs. In pursuit of these goals, the youth, the most valuable resources of the nation, shall be motivated, trained, organized and mobilized in military training, literacy, civic welfare and other similar endeavors in the service of the nation. Three Components of the NSTP

The training commenced promptly at 0700H with a series of stretching and warm-up exercises designed to prepare the cadets for the physical demands of the day. Following the facilitation of attendance through the scanning of identification cards, the Philippine National Anthem was solemnly rendered under the leadership of the Corps Commander, The morning hours were then dedicated to sharp military drills and marching exercises, reinforcing the discipline and unit cohesion essential to the corps.

As the training transitioned into specialized military instruction, the cadets participated in an intensive series of lectures led by ๐— ๐—ฆ๐—ด ๐—™๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ผ ๐—ค ๐—ฃ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜†๐—ผ ๐—ฃ๐—” (๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐˜€) on friday companies as well as ๐’๐ ๐ญ ๐‰๐จ๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ก๐š๐ง ๐ ๐๐š๐ง๐ข๐œ๐จ ๐๐€ (๐‘๐ž๐ฌ) on saturday companies. This session focused on technical proficiency, providing comprehensive guidance on the assembly and disassembly of the M16 rifle, as well as a detailed orientation on the various types of hand grenades. These lessons underscored a fundamental military truth often attributed to General John J. Pershing: "๐—”๐—น๐—น ๐—ฎ ๐˜€๐—ผ๐—น๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ๐˜€ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐˜„๐—ถ๐—ป ๐—ฎ ๐˜„๐—ฎ๐—ฟ ๐—ถ๐˜€ ๐—ฎ ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ณ๐—น๐—ฒ, ๐—ฎ ๐—ด๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ, ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—ถ๐—น๐—ถ๐˜๐˜† ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ ๐—ฎ ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ฝ." After a midday break at 1200H, the curriculum shifted to address the final pillar of that adage: Map Reading.

Beginning at 1300H, the instructor provided the cadets with the theoretical framework of land navigation. This was put into practice at 1600H, where the cadets gathered for a practical application phase. Provided with military maps, the cadets worked diligently to plot the coordinates of specific points, a task requiring high levels of precision and technical accuracy. The training reached its final phase at 1630H with a concluding set of drills to ensure that discipline remained high. The 12th and 13th training days were formally concluded at 1700H, successfully meeting the ROTC standards and contributing significantly to the development of military proficiency and leadership among the CvSU cadets.
