In celebration of Womenโ€™s Month 2026 with the theme โ€œWE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society,โ€ the Central Student Government of Initao College successfully launched Serbisyo Para Kay Juana: a meaningful initiative dedicated to empowering and caring for every woman in the academic community. The event highlighted the importance of accessible healthcare through a Philpen Assessment, offering services such as blood pressure monitoring, and other essential screenings. This initiative served as a reminder that womenโ€™s health is a vital foundation in building an inclusive and equitable society.

The program was strengthened by informative and inspiring discussions from dedicated healthcare professionals. Juddah Benjur Jabla, RN raised awareness on breast cancer, emphasizing early detection and self-examination. Shawn Clealan Catipay, RN discussed cervical cancer prevention, highlighting the importance of regular screening and vaccination. Meanwhile, Lilith Ladera, RN shared valuable insights on family planning, empowering women to make informed choices about their reproductive health. These sessions not only educated but also encouraged women to take charge of their overall well-being.

More than just a health activity, Serbisyo Para Kay Juana became a movement of unity, awareness, and empowerment. It reminded everyone that when women are supported, informed, and valued, communities thrive. Together, let us continue to stand for gender equality, uplift one another, and create a society where every woman feels seen, heard, and cared for.

The TULAY Champions Training held on March 12โ€“13, 2026 in Initao, Misamis Oriental successfully brought together community members, health advocates, and facilitators in a meaningful effort to strengthen support systems for stroke survivors. The two-day training aimed to empower participants with knowledge, skills, and a deeper understanding of their role as TULAY Champions, individuals who will help bridge the gap between stroke survivors and accessible community-based care and rehabilitation.

During Day 1, the program officially commenced with an introduction to the TULAY program, its mission, and guiding principles. Participants were provided with essential information about stroke, including its impact on individuals, families, and communities. The day also highlighted the responsibilities of a TULAY Champion in promoting awareness and assisting stroke survivors in their recovery journey. Hands-on training sessions were conducted to strengthen community capacity in rehabilitation, including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech-Language Therapy. These practical sessions helped participants understand basic rehabilitation techniques and the importance of bringing essential services closer to the community.

On Day 2, the focus shifted toward the emotional and mental health aspects of stroke recovery, emphasizing the importance of holistic care for survivors. Participants engaged in a body mapping activity where they reflected on personal experiences, expressed their feelings, and shared insights with fellow champions, an exercise that fostered empathy and deeper understanding. A โ€œkamustahanโ€ session through role-playing activities also allowed participants to practice supportive conversations with stroke survivors, preparing them to facilitate similar sessions in their own communities. The training concluded with an oath-taking ceremony, where the newly trained TULAY Champions pledged their commitment to advocate for stroke awareness and to provide compassionate support for stroke survivors in the community of Initao.

Last November 29, 2025, the Department of Fire Protection (DFP) Initao conducted a comprehensive fire and earthquake drill at the Super Health Center in Kamelon. The activity aimed to strengthen the readiness of staff and nearby community members by ensuring that proper safety measures and emergency responses are clearly understood and effectively practiced.

Participants were trained on evacuation procedures, fire response techniques, and essential steps to take during an earthquake. Through guided demonstrations and hands-on simulations, the drill helped build confidence, awareness, and quick decision-makingโ€”skills that are crucial in protecting lives during real emergencies.

We extend our appreciation to the DFP team for their commitment to promoting safety and disaster preparedness. Their expertise greatly contributed to enhancing the facilityโ€™s readiness and resilience. With continued collaboration and training, we move closer to building a community that is alert, prepared, and disaster-resilient.

Bloodletting Activity

Last November 6, 2025, a successful bloodletting activity was conducted at the Poblacion Fire Station, Initaoโ€”an initiative spearheaded by Barangay Poblacion, in partnership with RHU Initao and with the valuable assistance of NMMC. The activity brought together volunteers and health partners with one purpose: to help ensure an adequate and safe blood supply for patients who may urgently need it.

Throughout the event, donors were guided through proper screening, safe blood collection, and post-donation care. The strong participation of the community reflected a shared commitment to saving lives and supporting those undergoing medical emergencies, surgeries, or long-term treatments.
