Basilan Medical Center successfully conducted its Earthquake & Fire Drill 2025, a full-scale emergency preparedness simulation led by the HEMS Department headed by Mr. Albert A. De Los Reyes, AO-IV/DRRMH Manager and BAsMC PETRU.
The activity opened with an Emergency Preparedness Program, featuring vital lectures from BFP Isabela City, BFP Lamitan City, and the BAsMC Emergency Responder Team. These sessions equipped participants with essential knowledge on evacuation procedures, fire response, patient handling, and the critical Drop, Cover, and Hold On protocol.
Following the lectures, a real-life simulation drill was carried outโtesting the hospitalโs readiness in a high-pressure scenario. Stakeholders reenacted actual emergency conditions, demonstrating how responders evacuate patients, suppress fires, secure perimeters, provide first aid, and transport victims safely.
The drill drew strong participation and seamless coordination among our valued stakeholders:
โข BFP Isabela City & BFP Lamitan City
โข 52nd & 53rd Special Action Company
โข 18th Infantry Battalion
โข Regional Mobile Force Battalion
โข Philippine Coast Guard โ Isabela City
โข Visitors, observers, and the entire BAsMC workforce
This multi-agency collaboration showcased how unified response, clear communication, and rapid action can significantly reduce harm during disasters.
The activity was made possible through the unwavering support and guidance of our Medical Center Chief II, Dr. Sitti Nurussamsi C. Amilasan, MD, MPH, whose leadership reinforces the importance of safety and preparedness across all hospital operations.
At Basilan Medical Center, we believe that preparedness saves lives. Through continuous drills, trainings, and partnerships, we strengthen our capability to protect our patients, employees, and communityโensuring a safer, more resilient BAsMC.
