YAKAP PROGRAM OF PHILHEALTH
The YAKAP Program (which stands for Yaman ng Kalusugan ng Pamahalaan or "Wealth of Health from the Government") is a flagship primary healthcare benefit package in the Philippines offered by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).
It's essentially a revamped and expanded version of the previous PhilHealth Konsulta Program, focusing on preventive healthcare and making essential services more accessible to all Filipinos, regardless of existing health insurance coverage.
Key Benefits of the YAKAP Program
The program aims to encourage people to see a doctor for regular check-ups and early detection, not just when they are sick.
Free Primary Care Consultations: You can get routine medical check-ups at accredited YAKAP clinics.
Free Laboratory Tests: The program covers a wide range of laboratory and diagnostic tests, such as:
Complete Blood Count (CBC)
Lipid Profile
Fasting Blood Sugar
Urinalysis and Fecalysis
Chest X-ray and ECG
Free Medicines (Outpatient Drug Benefit): A significant feature is the provision of select free medicines for outpatient case management.
Members can avail of up to ₱20,000 worth of medicines annually through accredited GAMOT (Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment) providers/pharmacies.
The doctor will issue an e-prescription through the GAMOT app, which you present to the pharmacy for the free medication.
Free Cancer Screening: The package includes screening tests for various cancers, such as:
Mammogram and Breast Ultrasound
Pap Smear
Liver Ultrasound and Alpha Fetoprotein
Low-Dose Chest CT Scan and Colonoscopy
How to Register and Avail
Get a PhilHealth Identification Number (PIN): If you don't have one, you can register online via the PhilHealth Member Portal or through the eGovPH app.
Register with a YAKAP-Accredited Clinic: Once you have your PIN, you need to register at your chosen YAKAP-accredited clinic. You can usually do this online, via the eGovPH app, at a PhilHealth office, or directly at the clinic.
Get a Consultation: Visit your registered YAKAP clinic for a check-up.
Avail of Services: Your doctor will recommend the necessary lab tests, cancer screenings, or prescribe medicines, which you can receive for free or with the benefit deducted from your annual limit at accredited partner facilities.
The YAKAP Program is designed to make quality, comprehensive primary healthcare accessible and affordable to prevent illnesses from becoming severe and requiring costly hospitalization.
