USM Hospital Staff Attend BIR Year-End Tax Updates Seminar

The USM Hospital participated in the Year-End Tax Adjustments and BIR Tax Updates Seminar-Workshop held on November 13, 2025, in Koronadal City. Representing the hospital were Mr. Jomarie Laggui and Ms. Hyasmin Ganzon, both of whom play key roles in the hospital’s financial and administrative functions.

The one-day learning session aimed to strengthen the knowledge and skills of our bookkeeper and cashier on the aforementioned topic affecting public sector entities. The program featured practical workshops, case-based exercises, and interactive discussions designed to help the hospital compliance procedures with current BIR rules and standards.

USM Hospital extends its gratitude to the organizers for this valuable learning opportunity. Continuous training ensures the hospital remains transparent, compliant, and efficient in its financial operations.

The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) and the USM Hospital joined the nationwide celebration of the National Day of Charity by organizing a feeding program for patients from marginalized groups and offering free medical consultations for Outpatient Department (OPD) patients on October 30, 2025, at the USM Hospital, Kabacan, Cotabato.

A total of 217 patients benefited from the feeding program, while 48 patients received free medical consultations at the OPD.

According to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), this initiative forms part of their unwavering commitment to uplift marginalized sectors and expand the reach of charitable efforts across the country.

Through its program “Kawanggawa Para sa Kapwa,” the PCSO encourages government agencies, state universities and colleges (SUCs), local government units (LGUs), and private organizations to conduct philanthropic activities that strengthen communities and create meaningful, positive change in people’s lives.

This activity also marked the first community outreach led by USM Hospital under the leadership of its new director, Dr. Liza Mariposque.

Building Resilient Healthcare: USM Hospital Strengthens Emergency Response Capacity

To further enhance its disaster preparedness and emergency response capabilities, the USM Hospital participated in the Hospital Emergency Response Operation (HERO) training held on October 20–24, 2025, at Parklay Suites, Kidapawan City.

Representing the hospital was Mr. Randy Pojol, who joined other hospital disaster coordinators and health personnel from across Cotabato Province in the week-long activity organized by the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO)–Cotabato Province.

The training focused on strengthening hospital emergency systems and equipping healthcare workers with vital skills to respond efficiently during disasters and public health emergencies.

By taking part in this initiative, USM Hospital continues to champion resilience and readiness.

USM Hospital Joins the 2025 DRRM-H Program Implementation Review

Mr. Randy Pojol represented the USM Hospital in the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health (DRRM-H) Program Implementation Review held on October 27–28, 2025, at Parklay Suites, Plaridel Street, Kidapawan City.

The two-day activity was spearheaded by the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO)–Cotabato Province and gathered representatives from hospitals and health facilities across the province. The review aimed to evaluate the implementation of DRRM-H programs, strengthen inter-facility coordination, and enhance the readiness of health institutions in responding to emergencies and disasters.

Through the active participation of Mr. Pojol, USM Hospital reaffirmed its commitment to building a resilient health system, ensuring that emergency preparedness and disaster response remain among its top priorities in serving the community.

USM Hospital Sponsors the Monday Convocation and Promotes Wellness

The USMH proudly sponsored the USM Monday Convocation held on October 20, 2025, from 7:30 to 8:00 AM at the Administration Lobby.

As part of its continuing commitment to promote health and wellness within the University, USMH provided free Blood Pressure and Random Blood Sugar (RBS) checks, along with Pneumonia vaccinations for all attendees during the convocation. To express the hospital’s appreciation for the USM Administration’s support, light snacks were also served after the program.

This activity underscores USMH’s mission to proactively fulfill its support functions while promoting and maintaining good health and well-being.
