The Rural Health Unit of Kaputian headed by Dr.Fitz Gerald M. Llanos, continues to affirm its commitment to a community-centered health care through its consistent presence and active participation in the programs of Barangay Bandera. Today, September 16, 2025, RHU personnel frontlined significant activities that not only addressed the immediate health concerns of residents but also empowered them with knowledge and access to essential health services.
One of the highlights of RHU Kaputianโs service was its role in the medical eKonsulta program for Barangay Bandera. By providing consultations, PHIC services (registration, updating and profiling), laboratory testing, prescriptions, and education/counseling, RHU staff ensured that residents could avail themselves of timely medical care without leaving their community. This initiative particularly benefited families with limited mobility and resources, as it offered them accessible and compassionate health services right where they lived. The eKonsulta initiative further strengthened public confidence in government health programs and demonstrated the RHUโs dedication to the welfare of the people.
Another major milestone was the First Buntis Congress of Barangay Bandera, where RHU Kaputian played a vital role in ensuring the success of the event. Personnel in collaboration with our City Health Office resource speakers not only facilitated health education sessions and prenatal check-ups but also guided pregnant women through discussions on maternal nutrition, danger signs in pregnancy, breastfeeding, and family planning.
Moreover, RHU Kaputian took a big part in the Search for Barangay Bandera Buntis Congress Queen 2025, an event designed to celebrate motherhood, boost the confidence of expectant mothers, and recognize their vital role in the community. The RHUโs support in the activity highlighted its holistic approach to maternal careโbalancing education, empowerment, and community celebration.
The impact of these combined initiatives was deeply felt in the community. Families expressed appreciation for the convenience and care brought by the medical eKonsulta program, while pregnant women gained confidence, knowledge, and even recognition through the Buntis Congress. Moreover, the Service Caravan with PhilHealth-related services offered a sense of security to residents, reassuring them that healthcare remains a shared priority between the government and the community.
In conclusion, the role of RHU Kaputian in Barangay Banderaโs 2025 health initiatives cannot be overstated. From frontlining medical consultations to spearheading maternal health activities and extending PHIC services, the RHU personnel have truly embodied their mission of serving, educating, and empowering communities. We are grateful for the inititative of Barangay Bandera Officials and functionaries headed by Hon. Sandy Gonato, together with the Barangay Health Station staff headed by our Midwife Mary Ann Floralde. Their dedication continues to uplift Barangay Bandera and remains an inspiring model of responsive and compassionate healthcare service.
