𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗡 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗧 𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗢𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗣𝗥 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗖𝗖 - 𝗞𝗘𝗬 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗖𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗔𝗟 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗦

𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹: A single Chain of Survival now applies to both adult and pediatric cardiac arrest, emphasizing prevention and preparedness before arrest occurs.
𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿: For the first time, there's a comprehensive ethics chapter addressing healthcare professionals' obligations to eliminate health disparities and navigate complex resuscitation decisions.

𝗔𝗗𝗨𝗟𝗧 𝗕𝗔𝗦𝗜𝗖 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧
• 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗻-𝗕𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗢𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Now starts with 5 back blows followed by 5 abdominal thrusts (previously started with abdominal thrusts)
• 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗱𝘀: May adjust a bra instead of removing it when placing pads
• 𝗠𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗣𝗥 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀: Not recommended for routine use in adult cardiac arrest

𝗣𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗔𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗖 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗦
• 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Heel-of-1-hand OR 2-thumb encircling technique recommended (2-finger technique no longer recommended)
• 𝗙𝗕𝗔𝗢 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Children now start with back blows before abdominal thrusts, matching the infant sequence

𝗡𝗘𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗔𝗟 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗘
• 𝗨𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Deferred cord clamping for at least 60 seconds is now recommended for all newborns who don't require immediate resuscitation
• 𝗩𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗻𝗴𝗼𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗽𝘆: Can be useful for neonatal intubation

𝗦𝗬𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠𝗦 𝗢𝗙 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗘
• 𝗡𝗮𝗹𝗼𝘅𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀: Public policies should facilitate naloxone availability alongside AEDs
• 𝗧𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Different for adults (Hands-Only CPR) vs. children (conventional CPR with breaths)

𝗣𝗢𝗦𝗧-𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗗𝗜𝗔𝗖 𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗘
• 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹: Should be maintained for at least 36 hours (increased from previous recommendations)
• 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀: Maintain MAP ≥65 mm Hg to avoid hypotension

• 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀: Now strongly recommended during CPR training for both healthcare professionals and lay rescuers
• 𝗩𝗶𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: May be reasonable for knowledge acquisition but should NOT be used to teach CPR skills
