Benguet General Hospital was recognized as one of the Top Nominees for the 25th Gawad KALASAG Special Awards for 2025 under Hospital (Local Government) Category by the National Validation Committee.

BeGH management and staff led by Chief of Hospital III Dr. Maria Imelda C. Ulep, SP Committee Chair on Health and Sanitation Ms. Charmaine M. Likigan, and in collaboration with the Provincial Tourism Office and Benguet cultural performers composed of Benguet Provincial Capitol personnel warmly welcomed the KALASAG national field evaluators from the Department of Health-Health Emergency Management Bureau, Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Mines and Geosciences Bureau, and the Office of the Civil Defense on November 5, 2025.

The validators scrutinized how the hospital integrates its Disaster Risk Reduction Management for Health principles into its operations, which supports the overall health security and resilience of the community.

The field evaluation also provided an opportunity for the hospital to highlight its good practices in disaster preparedness and response. After thorough review of the documents and site evaluation, an exit conference was conducted. The evaluators commended the hospital’s initiatives and also identified and discussed areas for further improvement.

The KALASAG (Kalamidad at Sakuna Labanan, Sariling Galing ang Kaligtasan) Awards, spearheaded by the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD), is a program that acknowledges the outstanding efforts in disaster risk reduction, management, and humanitarian assistance throughout the country.

Benguet General Hospital actively participated in the 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) earlier today, November 6, 2025.

Hospital personnel, affiliates, patients, and visitors performed the "Duck, Cover, and Hold-on" technique. Evacuation exercise was done to familiarize everyone with the designated exits and evacuation area while tent management was also carried out ensure preparedness in case of real emergencies.

𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐘

In celebration of the National Day of Charity on October 30, 2025 and pursuant to Proclamation No. 598, Benguet General Hospital through its dedicated hospital staff and the Social Services Office , shared gifts to various patients in the hospital as a small act of kindness and generosity.

This activity coincided with the 54th Founding Anniversary of the Hospital.

54 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠! 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬.

Benguet General Hospital, headed by Dr Maria Imelda C. Ulep – Chief of Hospital III, celebrated its 54th Founding Anniversary with the theme “Celebrating Excellence in Healthcare Services and Success: 54 Years and Beyond”.

To foster camaraderie and team building, various activities were conducted throughout the month of October to commemorate the hospital’s anniversary. These activities were participated by hospital personnel and partner agencies.

Among the highlights was the celebration of the World Mental Health Day on October 10, 2025. Special wellness for Employees, in partnership with the Provincial Governor’s Office – Benguet Technical School, was held on October 22-23, 2025.

In addition, a sportsfest - featuring basketball, volleyball, and darts - was organized on October 26-29, 2025 promoting health, fun, and teamwork among BeGH employees and partners.

The main anniversary was celebrated on October 30, 2025 beginning with morning Zumba session for a healthier body and mind actively participated by hospital personnel and partner agencies.

This was followed by the blessing of the new Hemodialysis Machines and a thanksgiving mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Stepher Kines, CICM.

After the mass, the culminating program commenced attended by hospital personnel, partner agencies, and officials of the Benguet Provincial Government. Dr. Maria Imelda C. Ulep warmly welcomed everyone who attended the event.

Inspirational messages and congratulatory messages were shared by esteemed guests recognizing BeGH’s achievements and unwavering service to the community of Benguet and its neighboring provinces for more than five decades.

Among the distinguished guests during the event were Dr. Mercedes Calpito of PDOHO-Benguet representing Dr. Amelita Pangilinan - Regional Director of DOH-CHD-CAR, Hon. Lady Charmaine M. Likigan – SP Chairperson Committee on Health and Sanitation, Hon. Romeo K. Salda – SP Vice Chairperson Committee on health and sanitation representing Vice Governor Marie Rose Kepes, Ms. Jirah Siddayao – Overall Coordinator the Congressional District Office representing Cong Eric G. Yap, and Mr. Mario Baucas, Jr – Executive Assistant II of PGO representing Governor Melchor Diclas.

To close the program, Ms. Priscilla P. Kibatay, the Chief Administrative Officer of BeGH, expressed her gratitude to all the guests, hospital personnel, and partner agencies who took part in the celebration the hospital’s anniversary despite their busy schedule.

The 54th anniversary of the hospital stands as a testament to its continued dedication to healing, service, and success providing compassionate and quality healthcare for the people of Benguet and beyond.
