As we welcome the Year 2026, the School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (SDRRM) reminds everyone to practice safety when using firecrackers and fireworks. Celebrate responsibly by following the ๐ผ๐๐๐๐๐ principles:

โ ๐ผ - ๐ผ๐ก๐ฉ๐๐ง๐ฃ๐๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐๐จ: Use safer noiseโmaking options instead of traditional firecrackers, such as:
Sparklers, Fountain fireworks, Roman candles, butterfly/firework devices (pailaw), whistle devices, Hornpipes, Whistles, Clappers, or cans with pebbles that create noise without hazardous explosions. These devices are safer when used properly and are encouraged to reduce risk.
๐ - ๐๐๐ข๐๐ฉ: Know which firecrackers are prohibited and which are permissible; maintain safe distances and avoid excessive exposure to fireworks.
๐ - ๐๐๐๐๐๐ฉ๐จ: Be aware of the effects and dangers of using prohibited or unsafe firecrackers on people, property, and the environment. Larger explosive content increases the risk of injury.
๐ - ๐๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ค๐ฃ๐จ๐๐๐ก๐: Parents, guardians, and event organizers are responsible for supervising firecracker use to ensure safety and reduce harm.
๐ - ๐๐๐๐ฃ๐ : Think about possible outcomes and prioritize safety before lighting any firecracker or firework.

โโข Only light firecrackers one at a time.
โโข Do not hold a firecracker while lighting it.
โโข Never pick up firecrackers that did not explode.
โโข Keep firecrackers away from flammable materials like plastics and paper.
โโข Douse all firecrackers โ whether detonated or not โ with water before sweeping them up.

โโข Never allow children to play with or use firecrackers/fireworks unsupervised.

โโข Always maintain a safe distance from active firecrackers and fireworks.
โโข Never pick up or reuse firecrackers found strewn on streets, floors, or outside homes.
