ICYMI || PDOHO CAGAYAN conducts FHSIS cascading and EMR re-orientation to strengthen Data management in Health facilities
December 4-5,2025

The Provincial DOH Office (PDOHO) Cagayan represented by the DMO IV -Ms. Remedios Peleo, Ms. Ofelia A. Soriano, Ms. Angelica Obordo successfully conducted FHSIS Cascading and EMR Re-Orientation activity aimed at enhancing the data management skills and reporting efficiency of health personnel across the province. The activity brought together nurses, midwives, RHU staff, and program coordinators for a comprehensive session on improving the accuracy, timeliness, and utilization of health data.

Held as part of the province’s continuous capacity-building initiatives, the session highlighted the significant role of the Field Health Services Information System (FHSIS) in guiding public health decision-making and monitoring performance indicators. Participants were re-oriented on updated reporting protocols, common data errors, and strategies to ensure complete and reliable submissions.

In addition, the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Re-Orientation emphasized the importance of digital systems in streamlining client records, enhancing service delivery, and ensuring continuity of care.

The PDOHO Cagayan reaffirmed its commitment to supporting all local health units through continuous trainings, monitoring, and technical assistance to ensure a data-driven, responsive, and efficient local health system

LOOK || Lal-lo RHU Conducts HELOW BES – Health Education for Lallo- Bisita ESkwela at LNHS in Celebration of the 18-Day Campaign to End VAWC

In line with the nationwide observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC), the Lal-lo Rural Health Unit successfully conducted the HELOW BES activity at Lal-lo National High School (LNHS), strengthening awareness among adolescents on their rights, safety, and access to health services.

Students were engaged in health talks focusing on Adolescent Reproductive Health, mental well-being, Substance abuse prevention and values formation—equipping young individuals with knowledge and life skills essential for preventing violence within their communities.

Municipal Health Officer Dr. Maria Concepcion B. Abbang, emphasized the crucial role of schools in promoting a violence-free environment. “By reaching our youth, we shape informed and empowered individuals who can advocate for respect, equality, and safe relationships,” the MHO stated.

Present during the activity were Hon. Jimmy Balatico -SB on Health and Mr. Mark Kevin Agcaoili-Information Officer III, Representative of Mayor Oliver Pascual and Vice Mayor Olive Pascual both reaffirmed the LGU’s dedication to protecting women, children, and youth, noting that school-based interventions are essential in preventing violence before it begins.

Teachers and school staff expressed their gratitude to the RHU and the local government for selecting LNHS as one of the partner schools, recognizing the positive impact of HELOW BES on students’ awareness and well-being.

The Human Resources for Health (HRH) of Gattaran paid a courtesy call to Dr. Maria Concepcion B. Abbang -Municipal Health Officer and Ms. Kristine Michelle Tabaco, RN-Public Health Nurse today as part of the Rapid Convenience Monitoring (RCM) to be conducted across selected barangays.

During the courtesy visit, the HRH team presented the objectives of the RCM, outlined the schedule of activities, and discussed the importance of community participation in ensuring accurate and reliable data.

The courtesy call also served as an avenue to reinforce coordination between the HRH, the Municipal Health Office, and the Local Government Unit ensuring smooth implementation of the monitoring activity.

LOOK || Lal-lo Nutrition On Wheels Continues Service Amid Typhoon Uwan

In the midst of the heavy rains and flooding caused by Typhoon Uwan, the Local Government Unit of Lal-lo headed by Hon. Mayor Florence Oliver B. Pascual through the Nutrition On Wheels Program (Mobile Kitchen) continued to deliver vital assistance by providing cooked meals to evacuees and stranded individuals across the municipality.

The Lal-lo RHU Staff Health visited evacuation centers and key areas where residents were temporarily stranded, serving hot, nutritious meals.

According to the MHO/ Municipal Nutrition Action Officer -Dr. Maria Concepcion B. Abbang, the activity emphasized the importance of continuous nutrition services even in emergencies.

“Even during calamities, our mission to promote good nutrition continues. Providing cooked meals gives comfort and sustenance to evacuees and those stranded due to Typhoon Uwan,” she shared.

Through the Nutrition on Wheels, Lal-lo RHU reaffirmed its commitment to health, nutrition, and compassionate service, proving that genuine care and public service persist even in times of crisis.

LOOK || Lal-lo Rural Health Unit - Health Emergency Repsonse Team provides Health services at Maxingal Evacuation Center

In response to the recent effects of Typhoon Uwan, the Health Emergency Response Team of the Lal-lo Rural Health Unit conducted on-site health services at the Maxingal Evacuation Center to ensure the safety and well-being of displaced residents.

The team, composed of nurses, midwives, and other health personnel, provided medical consultations, vital signs monitoring, and distribution of essential medicines to evacuees, particularly children, pregnant women, and the elderly. Health education sessions on disease prevention and hygiene practices were also carried out to minimize the risk of outbreaks in the temporary shelter.

Dr. Maria Concepcion B. Abbang- Municipal Health Officer, emphasized the importance of continuous medical support during emergencies. “Our goal is to make sure that every evacuee receives proper medical attention and that no one is left behind during this crisis,” she stated.

conducted post-monitoring and continued service delivery in affected barangays to assess the condition of residents and ensure their safe return to normal living conditions.

The team visited evacuation centers and to provide necessary services like medical consultations,

LOOK || PUROKalusugan Orientation Held for Barangay Health Workers

The Provincial Department of Health Office (PDOHO) – Cagayan successfully conducted an orientation on PUROKalusugan for Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) together with the DOH-Human Resources for Health and RHU staff aimed at strengthening community-based health promotion and preventive health programs.

The activity was led by the Development Management Officer IV -Ms. Remedios Peleo, RN and Social Mobilizer- Maria Cristycar M. Lipana, RN
from PDOHO Cagayan, who provided discussions on the objectives, strategies, and implementation mechanisms of the PUROKalusugan program.

Present during the activity was Executive Assistant II Florante Paat, who delivered an inspirational message, emphasizing the vital contribution of Barangay Health Workers in sustaining the health and well-being of the community.

This initiative reflects the continuous effort of PDOHO Cagayan, the Local Government Unit of Lal-lo headed by Hon. Mayor Florence Oliver B. Pascual and Lal-lo Rural Health Unit to empower local health workers and enhance the delivery of primary health care services across the province.

LOOK || Lal-lo RHU Deploys Medical Teams for “Undas 2025” Cemetery Duty
November 1-2, 2025

In observance of Undas 2025, the Lal-lo Rural Health Unit (RHU) headed by Dr. Maria Concepcion B. Abbang deployed medical teams at the Lal-lo Public Cemeteries to ensure the health and safety of the public visiting their departed loved ones.

The RHU staff and DOH-Human Resources for Health were stationed at the cemetery to provide first aid assistance, blood pressure monitoring, and emergency medical response throughout the two-day observance.
