When babies cry it can be stressful and overwhelming. But no matter how exhausted, frustrated and upset you may feel, there are four things you should always bear in mind. Together they spell the word ‘icon’, which may help you remember them:

I – Infant Crying is Normal
Crying is how babies communicate. It’s their way of saying they’re hungry, tired, or just need comfort — and it’s a normal part of development.

C – Comforting Methods Can Help
Try gentle rocking, cuddling, singing, or offering a pacifier. Sometimes a change of environment or a soothing sound can make a difference.

O – It’s Okay to Walk Away
If you’ve tried to comfort your baby and the crying continues, it’s okay to put them safely in their crib and take a short break to calm yourself.

N – Never, Ever Shake a Baby
Shaking a baby, even out of frustration, can cause serious brain injury or death. Always handle your baby gently, even when emotions run high.

Remember: Crying doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong — it’s just part of being a baby. Take a deep breath, stay calm, and know you’re doing your best. 🤍

Hormonal contraceptives are a reliable way to prevent pregnancy and regulate menstrual cycles, but like any medication, they can come with side effects that are important to understand. Many women experience mild symptoms such as nausea, headaches, or mid-cycle spotting, which can occur as the body adjusts to hormone levels. Mood swings and reduced se*ual drive are also commonly reported, and these changes can sometimes affect emotional well-being or intimacy. Some women may notice bre@st tenderness or soreness, which usually improves over time. Vag*nal thrush or yeast infections can also occur, especially if the natural balance of bacteria and yeast in the v@gina is disrupted.

It’s important to remember that side effects vary widely from person to person, and not every woman will experience all or any of them. Monitoring your symptoms and keeping open communication with a healthcare professional can help manage or reduce these side effects. In some cases, adjusting the type, dosage, or method of contraception may provide relief. Always consult your gynecologist before making changes to your contraceptive method. Being informed and proactive can make using hormonal contraceptives a safer and more comfortable experience.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 💗

Did you know that 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime—and in 2025, nearly 317,000 women and 2,800 men are expected to receive an invasive diagnosis?

Thankfully, when caught early, the 5-year survival rate for localized cases is an impressive 99%, and there are already over 4 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S. today. In fact, a few members of our team are survivors!

This is why awareness saves lives, because early detection can mean the difference between life and death. Let’s stand together this month.

Did you know that the winter months can significantly affect how you feel during your menstruation? Seasonal changes, reduced sunlight, and colder temperatures can influence your mood, energy levels, and even the severity of PMS (pre-menstruation symptoms). Many women notice heightened irritability, sadness, or fatigue during winter periods, and this can be linked to changes in serotonin, the brain’s “feel-good” chemical.

Menstruation itself involves hormonal fluctuations, primarily in estrogen and progesterone, which can already impact mood and energy. When combined with winter-related factors, these changes may feel more intense. Period pains, bloating, and cramps might also seem worse during colder months due to muscle tension and reduced circulation.

Your immune system can also be slightly affected, making you feel more fatigued or susceptible to seasonal illnesses. Understanding this cause-and-effect relationship can help you manage your well-being better. Practices like light exposure therapy, gentle exercise, maintaining a balanced diet, and staying hydrated can support your mood and help ease period discomfort.

By acknowledging the influence of seasons on menstruation, you can create strategies to feel more balanced and comfortable throughout the winter.
