CEBUANO YOUTH DELEGATES BOUND FOR THE U.S. FOR ADAPTIVE SPORTS EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival welcomed on October 22, 2025, the Cebuano delegates of the 2025 Adaptive U.S. Sports Exchange Program, led by Mr. John Paul Maunes, a US Exchange Alumni and founder of the Philippine Accessible Disability Services (PADS), Inc.
The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) is organizing the Adaptive Sports Visitors Program from October 25 to November 8, 2025, to be held at the National Ability Center in Park City, Utah, and in Boise, Idaho.
Representing the Philippines in this international exchange are four Filipino youth athletes — Roosevelt N. Rayco, President of the Cebu City PWD Youth Federation, Mae Bernadeth Loceño, Christine Mae Garces, and Juliana Phyl Ginco. The group will join participants from six other countries in exploring U.S. society, culture, and history through the lens of adaptive sports.
Mayor Archival congratulated the delegates and encouraged them to be good, stay focused on their goals, and make the most of their learning experience during their time in the U.S so they can share valuable insights and best practices when they return to the Philippines.
The program aims to promote inclusivity, leadership, sports diplomacy, and empowerment for persons with disabilities, while strengthening people-to-people connections between the participants and the United States.
Cebu City continues to celebrate its youth who exemplify leadership, inclusivity, and excellence — proving that sports can unite and uplift communities.
