There is hope.

Recurrent acne, especially those with moderate to severe acne can lead to low self-esteem and even depression.

Some patients try to manage it with various products and treatments that they see online, some of which may give temporary results or no improvement and can be frustrating. Patients should consult with a board-certified dermatologist to get the proper treatment right away as moderate to severe acne can develop into acne scars. The goal is longterm results and preventing scarring from taking place, which will be another problem (and more expensive to manage later on).

Above is a patient of mine with recurrent severe acne treated with oral Isotretinoin and topical medications.
