Just Now. Las Piñas General Hospital And Satellite Trauma Center opened its OPD extension offices (Pharmacy, Cashier, Laboratory and Social Services) to the public. The opening of these offices shall improve accessibility and ease in doing business particularly those seeking outpatient health services.

This is followed by the strengthening of outpatient benefit packages through the PhilHealth YAKAP (Yaman Kalusugan Program) and its ongoing accreditation of GAMOT (Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment).

Patients can now avail some of these services through our YAKAP accredited doctors right here in LPGH-STC.

Road traffic accidents are a leading global health concern, causing 1.35 million deaths and 50 million injuries annually, and remain the top cause of death among children and young adults aged 5–29. In the Philippines, traffic-related deaths rose by 39% from 2011 to 2021, making it a major public health issue. 🚙🚨

Global and national efforts, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the Philippine 8 Point Action Agenda, and the Road Safety Action Plan, prioritize safer infrastructure, vehicles, road users, and post-crash care. 🚑🏥

In line with these initiatives and the LPGH&STC Gender and Development (GAD) advocacies, the Department of Family and Community Medicine conducted a Road Safety Awareness activity, “Kaalaman sa Daan, Ligtas ang Kabataan” among Grade 6 students of Silverio Elementary School, spearheaded by our consultant, Dr. Karl Darryl Tamparia. The event featured health lectures on Road Safety and the importance of Basic First Aid, highlighting the advocacy of our Third year Resident, Dr. Ianne Russell Uayan. 🚦🚧⛑️

To address childhood malnutrition in Brgy. Basa Uno, Zapote, the Third Year Family and Community Medicine Residents launched and implemented their Community-Oriented Primary Care (COPC) project on Malnutrition, “Nagkakaisang Masa Para Sa Malusog Na Basa”, last July 2025, in line with the LPGH&STC Gender and Development (GAD) advocacy programs. 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️

Guided by COPC principles, the project promoted sustainable, multisectoral, and participatory strategies to improve children’s nutrition through health education on healthy eating, deworming, hygiene, waste management, and urban gardening. 🍎👏🚮🪱🍃

Activities were spread over three key events which included lecture series with pre- and post-tests, return demonstrations, and a culminating Cooking Fest where participants prepared affordable and nutritious dishes based on the “Go, Glow, Grow” framework. 💪

The initiative was well-received, strengthening community participation and affirming our commitment to preventive, inclusive, and sustainable community-driven health strategies.
