BEST WAYS TO PREVENT HYPERTENSION:
✔ MAINTAIN a healthy weight.
- When it comes to hypertension, weight is really crucial. Overweight or obese people should try to lose weight and normal weight people should avoid adding any weight.
✔ BALANCE your diet.
- Limit the intake of excess fats and sugar. Fat builds up plaques into our blood vessels causing it to narrow which causes hypertension. Eating unhealthy food may lead to weight gain which increases our risk to being overweight or obese.
✔ CUT the salt.
- Where sodium (found in salt) goes, water follows. Increase of water volume in our body increases the blood pressure. Therefore, the higher the sodium intake, the higher the blood pressure.
✔ EXERCISE regularly.
- Regular physical activity makes your heart stronger. A stronger heart can pump more blood with less effort. If your heart can work less to pump, the force on your arteries decreases, lowering your blood pressure.
