PHILIPPINE AIRLINES ISSUES URGENT ADVISORY ON POWER BANK RULES
Philippine Airlines (PAL) has issued an urgent advisory reminding passengers that the carriage and use of power banks on board are subject to strict safety regulations, in line with the latest guidance from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Effective immediately, the following rules apply to all Philippine Airlines flights:
โข Do not place power banks in checked baggage or overhead bins.
โข Power banks must be carried with you at all times or placed in the seat pocket or under the seat in front of you.
โข Only power banks up to 100Wh are allowed.
โข Power banks must have a clearly indicated capacity label, preferably in watt-hours (Wh) or milliampere-hours (mAh).
โข A maximum of two (2) power banks per passenger is permitted.
Note: Wh = (mAh ร Voltage) รท 1000
โข Each power bank must be packed individually to prevent short circuits (e.g., taped terminals, original packaging, plastic bags, or protective pouches).
โข Charging of power banks is strictly prohibited throughout the flight.
โข Power banks may be used to charge personal devices, except during taxi, takeoff, and landing.
PAL emphasized that these measures are in place to ensure the safety of passengers, crew, and aircraft. | via Rudy Santos
