Tetanus is a serious bacterial infection caused by Clostridium tetani.

It enters the body through open wounds such as cuts, punctures, burns, or animal bites—especially if the wound is dirty or contaminated.

What does it do?

The bacteria produce a toxin that attacks the nervous system, causing:

• Severe muscle stiffness
• Painful muscle spasms
• Lockjaw (difficulty opening the mouth)
• Trouble swallowing and breathing

Where does it come from?

The bacteria are commonly found in:

• Soil
• Dust
• Animal f***s
• Rusty objects (nails, wires, metal)

Is tetanus dangerous?

⚠️ Yes. It can be life-threatening if not treated immediately.

✅ Normal lang ang mild reactions tulad ng pangangati, pamumula, pantal, o kaunting pamamaga sa tinurukan. Karaniwan itong nawawala sa loob ng ilang araw.

✅ Huwag kakamutin ang bahagi ng tinurukan dahil maaaring magdulot ito ng iritasyon o impeksyon. Mas mainam ang cold compress para maibsan ang kati at pamamaga.

✅ Uminom ng maraming tubig at magpahinga nang sapat para mas mabilis makarekober ang katawan.

✅ Kung makati o may pantal, maaaring magbigay ang doktor ng antihistamine o gamot para sa allergy—huwag basta mag-self-medicate.

✅ Magpatuloy pa rin sa iskedyul ng bakuna. Huwag itigil ang anti-rabies vaccine hangga’t walang payo ang doktor.

🚨 Magpatingin agad sa doktor kung may:
• Hirap sa paghinga
• Pamamaga ng labi, dila, o mukha
• Matinding pangangati sa buong katawan
• Mataas na lagnat o hilo

📌 Paalala:
Ang mga side effects ay senyales na gumagana ang bakuna at lumalaban ang immune system. Hindi ito dahilan para matakot o tumigil sa gamutan.

Nararanasan mo rin ba ang pangangati sa braso na tinurukan, pamumula, o pagkakaroon ng pantal habang tinatapos ang iyong anti-rabies vaccine series?

👉 Huwag mabahala. Ang mga ito ay kabilang sa pinaka-karaniwang side effects ng bakuna at kadalasang banayad at pansamantala lamang.

Bakit nagkakaroon ng pangangati o rashes?

🔹 1. Normal na immune response

Ang anti-rabies vaccine ay isang highly potent at highly immunogenic na bakuna.
Ibig sabihin, malakas nitong ginigising ang immune system ng katawan para makabuo ng proteksyon laban sa rabies.
➡️ Dahil dito, maaaring makaranas ng:
• Pangangati sa injection site
• Pamumula o pamamaga
• Pantal o rashes sa ibang bahagi ng katawan

Ito ay senyales na gumagana ang bakuna at nagre-react ang immune system.

🔹 2. Pagkain na maaaring magpalala ng reaksyon

May ilang pasyente na mas nagkakaroon ng pangangati o pantal kapag nakakain ng mga pagkain na maaaring mag-trigger ng allergic o inflammatory response, tulad ng:
• 🥚 Itlog
• 🍗 Manok
• 🐟 Isda at iba pang malalansa
• 🌭 Highly processed foods gaya ng hotdog, delata, instant at preserved foods

❗ Hindi ito dahil “bawal” ang mga pagkain na ito, kundi dahil maaari nilang palalain ang skin reactions habang sensitibo pa ang katawan dahil sa bakuna.

🔹 3. Culture-type vaccine at cross-reaction

Ang anti-rabies vaccine ay isang culture-type vaccine, na may mga sangkap na maaaring magdulot ng cross-reaction sa ilang uri ng pagkain, lalo na sa malalansa o allergenic foods, sa mga pasyenteng sensitibo o may history ng allergy.

🔹 4. Pro-inflammatory effect ng processed foods

Ang pagkain ng highly processed foods ay maaaring magdulot ng tinatawag na “pro-inflammatory state”:
• Mas madaling mamaga ang balat
• Mas mabilis lumabas ang rashes
• Mas tumitindi ang pangangati

Lalo na ito napapansin habang ongoing ang bakuna.

Mahalagang Paalala 📌

✔️ Hindi ipinagbabawal ang mga nabanggit na pagkain — pinaiiwas lamang pansamantala para maiwasan ang side effects.
✔️ Hindi ibig sabihin na kapag nagka-rashes ay nawalan ng bisa ang bakuna.
👉 VERY EFFECTIVE PA RIN ang anti-rabies vaccine kahit may side effects.
✔️ Ang mahalaga ay matapos ang buong vaccine schedule sa tamang araw.

Kailan dapat kumunsulta agad sa doktor?

🚨 Magpatingin agad kung may:
• Matinding pamamaga ng mukha o labi
• Hirap sa paghinga
• Paulit-ulit na pagsusuka
• Lagnat na hindi nawawala
• Lumalalang pantal o pangangati

May mga ligtas at epektibong gamot tulad ng antihistamines na maaaring ibigay ng doktor upang maibsan ang side effects.

✅ Tandaan:

Ang side effects ay manageable, ang rabies ay nakamamatay kapag hindi naagapan.
Kaya ituloy at tapusin ang anti-rabies vaccine at kumonsulta agad sa healthcare provider kung may nararamdamang kakaiba.
