💡 Being Kind Doesn’t Mean Being Used

Sometimes, the people who love to help end up hurting themselves—not because they’re weak, but because they understand too much.

If you’re always giving, you know how it starts:
• A little favor
• A small loan
• A bit of understanding

At first, it feels simple. But over time, it becomes expected:
• You’re always the one they call
• You’re the one they rely on
• You’re the one who takes it all in

And slowly, you tell yourself:
“Okay, I can handle this.”
“I’ve got this.”
“Let it be.”

But while you put others first, your energy fades. Your time disappears. Your patience wears thin.

Meanwhile, life goes on for them. Often, the help isn’t remembered. Sometimes, it isn’t even repaid.

Here’s the truth: the kinder you are, the easier it is for others to take advantage of you. Not because they are bad—they just got used to your kindness.

And this is why good people sometimes suffer quietly:

• You can also pay your plan online anytime, convenient and fast.

Traditional (face-to-face) application:
• You fill out forms/papers in person.
• You cannot see your plan or transaction history online.
• If you want to check or update your payment history, you need to go to the branch.
• You can pay online, but for updates or checking, you still need to visit the branch.

That’s the main difference between online and traditional applications.

A Different Experience… True Story

Someone called me and introduced himself as a Barangay Captain here in Lipa. He asked me how to process things when someone dies and how to get a plan. I politely explained the process to him.

He then told me that someone would call me.

After a while, a man called me. He said his father passed away and they did not have a St. Peter plan, so they wanted to get one. We talked and I gave him the details of the process.

After about one hour, the Barangay Captain called me again.

Then he said to me:
“Give me the commission. Send me two cases of Tanduay.”

I was surprised and did not know what to say.

Honestly, I did not know if I should feel angry or just laugh at what he said.

So I just answered:
“Sorry, Capt.”

Suddenly he raised his voice and said:
“You are useless! I gave the client to you, so you should give me the commission!”

Then he said he would tell them not to continue buying the plan.

After that, he ended the call.

In this kind of work, you will really meet different kinds of people.

But even in situations like this, I still choose to stay professional and do what is right.
