HEALTHSERV LOS BAÑOS MEDICAL CENTER: The Fulfillment of a Dream
In 2001, a group of eleven doctors, sharing a common vision of offering quality and subspecialty-oriented medical services, decided to put up a multi-specialty and diagnostic clinic in Los Baños. HealthServ Los Baños, Inc. was thus established and duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. A vacated McDonald’s building, strategically located along the highway, was chosen for the site and renovations were started on January 2002. The clinic opened its door to the public on June 12, 2002 with 22 specialists and 10 employees. We also added a secondary laboratory, x-ray, ultrasound and pharmacy to complete the outpatient facility. Our records system was centralized so that referrals were facilitated. In 2004, we bought a CT scan, the first in the community at that time and a few months after a mammography unit. This was followed by the ambulatory surgical center. This center was accredited with PHILHEALTH. We were able to do outpatient chemotherapy, cataract surgeries and minor operations. Through the years, we added a 2D echocardiography, the lab was automated, and an OB Gyne dedicated ultrasound. The medical staff likewise grew from 20 to at present 97 doctors. We boast of one of kind specialists in the community like the rheumatologist, developmental pediatrician and the pediatric and adult endocrinologist. A free standing dialysis center was also bought to complement the existing services.
In 2009, in answer to the clamor of the patients and doctors alike, we decided to build a tertiary hospital. Construction started in June 12, 2009 and in October 10, 2010, the hospital was opened to the public. In February 10, 2011, we were accredited as a “center of excellence” by PhilHealth. This was the culmination of the two years that we spent creating policies and procedures that we needed in order to run the hospital. This was also the fulfillment of a dream of the eleven doctors who started it all.
We are a level 2 hospital with 92 bed capacity, 8 bed ICU, 24 bed dialysis center, emergency room, an operating room complex, pulmonary station, a tertiary laboratory with microbiology capacity, x-ray, ultrasound, 16 slice CT scan, bone densitometry and mammography. We aim to be the hospital of choice in the community by providing quality and affordable health care services.
March, 2016 we opened our Medical Arts Building wherein our new Out-Patient Department is located. It consists of Eye Center, Industrial Clinic, Diabetes Education Center, Cardiac Center, OB-Ultrasound Room, Rehabilitation Complex, Obstetrics and Gynecology Complex, twenty nine clinics for our consultants and most of the Admin offices of HLBMC.
In 2016, we officially became part of Mount Grace Hospitals Inc., a network of hospitals whose mission is to provide excellent medical care to the broader segments of the community in strategic areas nationwide. We combine service excellence, professional engagement and operational efficiency to ensure that quality, affordable and compassionate care is available to customers.
In February 2018, HealthServ became an AHA Training Center. In November 2018, HealthServ was granted a 92 bed capacity by the Department of Health.
New Services:
Electroencephalogram (EEG) – Pulmonary Department
Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) Tests – Rehabilitation Center
QuantiFERON-TB Gold Plus – Laboratory
Now, HSLBMC had 35 Internal Medicine doctors, 16 Pediatricians, 18 Surgeons, 10 Obstetrics and Gynecologists, 16 Physiatry and Rehab doctors, 2 Dentists, more than 150 nurses and around 300 employees. Related to this, the hospital is continuing its best to improve its services for the benefits of its patients.
