Crossing Midline Activities

Why are they important?
We want our whole brain to work, not just one side. Crossing midline activities fosters brain hemisphere communication (left brain/right brain) and bilateral coordination.🙏 👏 ✍️ 🤷‍♂️ 🤲

Meet Teacher Czareen Dioquino, a 2024 graduate of B.S. Speech Pathology from UP Manila (with cm laude honors.)

T. Czareen discovered that being a speech therapist brings all of her interests together. During high school at Mandaluyong Science, she loved performing, enjoyed volunteer work and as a Girl Scout, loved teaching children. She was also interested in healthcare.

Outside of work, T. Czareen collects DVDs, limited edition books, and memorabilia from her childhood favorite, The Chronicles of Narnia. She also enjoys puzzles, escape rooms and reading mystery or whodunit novels.

Being a therapist and engaging in these activities keep T. Czareen connected to her childhood.❤️

AAC works!!!

Galing ni Marcus! Galing ni Mommy!

Kanina pa paikot ikot c Marcus sa kusina, ref, mga drawers ng food. So we told him na i-type sa AAC kung anong gusto nya.. and BOOM! FUDGEE BAR pala.

Laking help ng AAC tlga para mas masabi nya ung gusro nya at hindi sya mafrustrate if mali ung hula namin. 😊

Visual Schedules

Visual schedules provide a roadmap for your child’s day, making all activities predictable and therefore reducing difficulties with transitions. It also encourages independence.😀

At TalkActive, we often use visual schedules during our sessions so children know there is a beginning and an end to every activity.😀

Research shows that when children are able to contribute to the household, they become more self-assured and confident.

Start with peeling carrots and potatoes, mixing and stirring, then slowly graduate to cutting vegetables with child-friendly beginner knives available in the market.

Sometimes our little students act like the bosses in their households. Their parents always wonder why they are cooperative at TalkActive but not at home.

For those experiencing this, we suggest starting a short routine at home. Add activities that require them to do a chore or finish a lesson. Be positive and encouraging! Children learn when they are having fun!
