Pilling vs. Peeling
What are they?
Peeling: This is the natural and expected process of your skin shedding its outermost, damaged layers after a chemical peel. This reveals the fresh, smoother, and more radiant skin underneath. Think of it as your skin's way of renewing itself!

Pilling: This is when skincare products don't absorb properly and clump together on the surface of your skin, forming tiny, balled-up flakes. This is a product-related issue, not a sign of your skin shedding. It can look similar to peeling, but it's actually just excess product rolling off.

Causes
Peeling: The primary cause is the chemical peel itself. The acids in the solution work to break down the bonds between dead skin cells, causing them to flake off.

Pilling: This is often caused by improper product application or incompatible product formulas. It can be due to:

Applying too much product.

Not allowing enough time for a product to absorb before applying the next one.

Layering products with incompatible ingredients (e.g., a silicone-based product over a water-based one).

A lack of exfoliation, which can cause dead skin cells to mix with your products.

Tips to Avoid Pilling
Apply Thinnest to Thickest: Always apply your products in order of consistency—from lightest (like a serum) to heaviest (like a cream or SPF).

Give Products Time to Absorb: Wait at least 60 seconds between each product application to allow it to fully sink into your skin.

Use Less Product: A little goes a long way! Use a pea-sized amount of product to avoid oversaturation.

Exfoliate Regularly: Keep your skin clear of dead skin buildup by exfoliating 1-3 times a week, as recommended by your skin care professional.
