Hepatitis B: Tahimik na sakit pero nakamamatay
Ang hepatitis B ay isa lamang sa limang uri ng virus na kumikitil ng di-kukulangin sa 600,000 buhay taun-taon.Mahigit dalawang bilyon o halos sangkatlo ng kabuoang populasyon ng daigdig ang naging impektado nito. Bagama't ang ilang porsiyento nito ay gumaling ng kusa habang nasa acute stage o sa loob ng anim na buwan na bago pa lamang sa impeksyon,tinataya na halos 350 milyong biktima nito ang nauuwi sa pagiging chronic na kung saan habambuhay nang nasa katawan nila ang virus at karaniwan na walang makikitang sintomas habang hindi pa lubhang malala.
Ang maagap na pagpapagamot ay maaaring makatulong sa mga impektado ng chronic Hepatitis-B para maiwasan ang tuluyang pagkasira ng atay na siyang sanhi ng kamatayan.
