After seven years, FriendlyCare was once again given the opportunity to serve the women of the Caraga Region, particularly in Siargao Island, this time through the Lab for All Caravan spearheaded by the Office of the First Lady in partnership with the Province of Surigao del Norte.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Commission on Population and Development Caraga Region, the LGU of the Municipality of Dapa through its Public Health Nurse, the Municipal Population Officers of Siargao Island, and the Surigao del Norte GAD Office for their support in reaching out to and informing clients, and to the Siargao Convention Center together with the PIO Office for their invaluable logistical assistance.

This initiative underscores the importance of bringing essential health services closer to communities, as some women even braved long travels and crossed islands just to access care. Through strong partnerships and shared commitment, we were able to extend meaningful services to the people of Siargao.

In celebration of Family Planning Month last August, FriendlyCare provided free Family Planning services and Cervical Cancer screening in Calauan and Cabuyao, Laguna; Bacoor, Cavite; and Alitagtag and San Jose, Batangas. A total of 282 clients benefited from bilateral tubal ligation (BTL), vasectomy, implants, and Pap smear. These services promoted safe pregnancy spacing, reproductive health, and shared responsibility. Implants and BTL provided women with long-term and permanent options to prevent unintended pregnancies, while Pap smear allowed early detection of cervical abnormalities that can save lives. Vasectomy also highlighted the vital role of men in family planning, helping ease the burden often carried by women.

We are deeply grateful to our abovementioned partner LGUs, particularly their respective City Population and Health Offices, for co-organizing these activities, and to the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) Region IV-A for linking us with LGUs and ensuring access to implant commodities. Together, we continue to uphold the mission of empowering women and couples to plan their families and protect their health.
