Good evening everyone! It has come to my attention that a certain food supplement product has been posting misleading information about leptospirosis and promises of a magic remedy . I urge the public to please do not believe these certain advertisements.
The leptospirosis bacteria can easily be killed by:
1. Proper washing with soap
2. Cleaning with 70% isopropyl or ethyl alcohol
3. Heating/boiling

Let us all be vigilant. Let us not panic.,
And definitely let us not be misled by these unscrupulous individuals who have no souls and take advantage of the people’s fears…

Please take your leptospirosis post exposure prophylaxis if you have waded in flood waters.
If you are continually wading in flood waters or mud , a weekly prophylaxis is needed. Please consult your doctor for a proper discussion…
Wear boots and gloves please! Cover any open wounds and keep it from getting in contact with the flood water.

Good evening everyone! I will be resuming my usual clinic schedule this week , but we will still continue with the free leptospirosis prophylaxis and tetanus toxoid shots in the afternoons . I will be at the clinic 2-5pm tomorrow.

In the four days in providing the free services, We have served a total of 113 patients and their families so far.

I encourage those who waded in flood waters to seek consult today since it is already day 3 from the typhoon… I undesrstand there are a lot to process and clean. But leptospirosis is a nasty disease… so please have your prophylaxis as soon as possible…
We are giving them for free along with tetanus toxoid injections…

Starting tomorrow afternoon at the ucmed clinic , for patients 18 yrs old and above, non pregnant, who were or are still wading in flood waters, I will be giving leptospirosis prophylaxis for free, (Doxycycline) after a careful assessment of your risk…
Prophylaxis is best given within 24-72hrs from exposure , so please see me tomorrow.
I will also be giving free anti tetanus shots(tetanus toxoid).
