𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘶𝘦 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘊𝘦𝘣𝘶 — In line with the observance of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, The Hospital at Maayo conducted a community health forum titled “Protect Your Gut: Take the First Step!” on March 25, in partnership with Barangay Alang-Alang.

The two-part lecture series aimed to raise awareness on the importance of early detection and prevention of colorectal cancer, one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide. The initiative gathered community members for an informative and engaging discussion focused on improving gut health and promoting proactive healthcare practices.

Registered Nutritionist-Dietitian Ms. Francheska Marie Arrogante, RND, emphasized the role of proper nutrition as a primary defense against colorectal diseases. This was followed by Gastroenterologist Dr. Jane Lou Gargaritano, who discussed the science behind colorectal cancer, including its development, early warning signs, preventive measures, and the importance of timely screening. She also addressed common misconceptions surrounding the disease.

Participants of the forum received educational materials, free giveaways, and Maayo Premier Health Cards, further encouraging community members to prioritize their health.
