UCLM CARES Annual Gift-Giving Activity

UCLM Community Awareness, Relations, and Extension Services (CARES) successfully conducted its Annual Gift-Giving Activity for children affected by Typhoon Tino in its adopted barangay in Mandaue City on December 13, 2025, at the UCLM Covered Court.

The activity was made possible through the collaborative efforts of all CARES departments, in partnership with the General Education Teachers, reflecting the university’s strong commitment to community service and compassion.

The food served during the activity was generously sponsored by Capt. Mario Gabuya and family, former faculty member of the Marine Transportation program; Ms. Lace Villavicencio, Hospitality Management alumna; Ma’am Nely Villavicencio of The Heart of God Ministry; and the Administration of UCLM.

Games for the parents were sponsored by Ms. Zeus Abella, College of Nursing alumna, and Mr. Zuryl Abella, College of Nursing student, adding enjoyment and engagement to the celebration.

The gifts distributed to the children were donated through the collective generosity of UCLM students, faculty, staff, and alumni, bringing joy, hope, and smiles to the young beneficiaries during the holiday season.

The program hosted by NSA student Cadet Daleon, who ensured the smooth flow of activities and added energy to the event.

This meaningful activity highlights UCLM’s continuing dedication to uplifting communities and extending heartfelt service to those in need.

UCLM CARES, in collaboration with Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center and the Barangay Opao Health Center, successfully conducted a Bloodletting Activity aimed at promoting voluntary blood donation.

The activity primarily targeted UCLM ROTC students as blood donors and was also opened to other private individuals who willingly participated in the cause. In support of the donors, Dugong Alay, Dugtong Buhay generously provided food and refreshments to ensure the well-being and comfort of all blood donors after the procedure.

This initiative reflects UCLM CARES’ continued commitment to community health, humanitarian service, and collaborative efforts that help save lives through voluntary blood donation.

Shell Mobility and Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI) coordinated with UCLM CARES for the distribution of their relief goods last December 2, 2025, benefiting families affected by the recent earthquake and Typhoon Tino.

A total of 100 families per area received essential relief assistance through this collaborative effort.

*Barangay Cotcot, Liloan – UC Banilad CARES
*Talisay City – UC PT CARES and UC METC CARES

UCLM CARES will be conducting a Gift-Giving Activity dedicated to bringing joy and hope to children affected by Typhoon Tino from the communities of Barangay Umapad, Barangay Paknaan, and selected areas in Barangay Looc and Barangay Opao, Mandaue City.

This initiative forms part of our continued commitment to uplift our partner communities, especially during challenging times.

The UCLM NSA, together with WWF and in coordination with UCLM CARES and Barangay Alegria, Cordova, successfully conducted a coastal clean-up drive at the RORO Port in Cordova today, December 7, 2025.

Through the collective effort of volunteers, students, partners, and community stakeholders, a total of 799.33 kilos of trash were collected from the shoreline. This initiative highlights our shared commitment to environmental protection, marine conservation, and community involvement.

Together, we continue to make a cleaner and more sustainable coastline for future generations.

UCLM CARES: CLOSET OF HOPE

We would like to inform the UCLM community that UCLM CARES: Closet of Hope will be open tomorrow from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the old SAO Office.

This initiative is open to all UCLM students and employees who were affected by Typhoon TINO. Please feel free to visit and select the items you need.

We are still accepting pre-loved clothes, shoes, bags, and other usable items for donation. Your generosity will greatly help our affected UCLM family members.

In response to the impact of Typhoon TINO, UCLM CARES is opening the CLOSET OF HOPE — a pop-up space where affected students, faculty, and staff can freely choose from donated clothes, essentials, and other helpful items.

To make this initiative meaningful, we are inviting the entire UCLM community to donate clean, pre-loved, and usable items.

📍 Drop-off Point: Beside Old Cashiers Office
📅 Donation Period: Until November 25, 2025

UCLM affected victims may proceed to OLD SAO office to choose the pre-loved items starting on Nov. 19-28, 2025

The University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue (UCLM) opened its doors as an evacuation center for the affected residents of Typhoon Tino. Evacuees from three barangays—Looc, Opao, and Umapad—were safely accommodated on campus.

As part of the University’s community response, the UCLM Medical Team, headed by Dr. Leah Lafuente, conducted free medical consultations and provided health assistance to the evacuees to ensure their well-being and safety during their temporary stay.

UCLM remains steadfast in its commitment to serve and support the community in times of need. 💙
