Mental Health and Personal Development
Author: Nikki Seay (2025)

Post Description:

Personal growth is the process of mental, emotional, and behavioral self-improvement that empowers people to live more fulfilling lives. At its core, personal growth is deeply interconnected with mental health: strong mental health provides the stability needed for growth, while personal development practices actively support psychological well-being. Enhancing both mental health and personal development involves working on greater self-awareness, building resilience, and improving emotional regulation.

6 Benefits of Friendship and Why It's So Important to Stay Close
by: Arlin Cuncic, MA (2024)

In an age where many of us feel lonelier and more disconnected than ever, it's never been more important to invest extra energy into our friendships. It may be overlooked in our quest for romantic ones, but friendship is just as important to our psychological well-being. Friendships can enrich our lives in many ways and good friends can help us discover more about ourselves and challenge us to be better.

Who we are...

The Benilde Well-Being Center or BWC or BeWell Center, formerly known as the Center for Counseling Services, is an integral part of Lasallian Mission and Student Life. It attends to the psychosocial and emotional well-being of Benildeans. I wish to inform you that the name change from Center for Counseling Services to Benilde Well-Being Centerwas made to make the Center more inclusive, positive, accessible, accommodating, focused on well-being and less stigmatizing.

BWC aims to provide relevant services to students, faculty and staff, including parents in a safe, caring and nurturing environment facilitated by registered guidance counselors (RGCs) through counseling individuals who are experiencing personal adjustment, career concerns, developmental and/or psychological problemsthat require professional attention.

In line with the mission of St. John Baptiste De La Salle and St. Benilde Romancon, BWC envisions Benildeans to have a sound psychological well-being manifested through the following competencies based on the Six-Factor Model of Psychological Well-Being by Dr. Carol Ryff, namely: self-acceptance, positive relations with others, autonomy, environmental mastery, purpose in life, and a sense of personal growth.
