WET VS. DRY AGE-RELATED MACULAR DEGENERATION (AMD)

There are two types of AMD. Dry AMD, the more common type (80% of cases), is when parts of the macula get thinner with age and tiny clumps of protein grow, leading to gradual loss of central vision. Wet AMD involves growth of new, abnormal blood vessels under the retina. Wet AMD leads to vision loss faster than dry AMD.
