Our goal is to bless 700 indigenous families from our adopted community in Brgy Riverside with a Noche Buena gift pack in time for Christmas.

"Kahit makakain lang po kami ng kanin sa bisperas ng bagong taon..." candidly replied one child when asked what she wished for this Christmas season. Normal meals are composed of cassava, gabi, and bananas. With agricultural lands so rich and vast but with no proper irrigation system in place, rice has to be bought and most adults remain jobless. The indigenous people of Riverside are among the ultra poor, with the great majority not having any sustainable livelihood. Life has become even more difficult after Typhoon Odette.

With P500 we can already provide 1.5kg rice, canned meat, spaghetti noodles, spaghetti sauce, cheese, mixed fruits and cream for an extra special Christmas meal for each family.

This is the Cañete family from Brgy. Riverside, Negros Occ. The adults in this IP family do not have permanent jobs. They work in someone else's rice field or sugarcane field for a few days when there is demand. If they can work for 4 days in one month, they're considered lucky! There is just too many unemployed IPs in their area that makes earning a living extra difficult. The normal wage is P200 a day, with free meal for the work day. But with only a maximum of 4 days worth of work in one month, how does a family of 6 survive on P800 for an entire month?

The parents are trying hard to send their four children to school even with little means so they can learn how to read and write — a basic life skill they never had the privilege to learn. The children go to school with no school bag, only a few sheets of paper whenever available. Imagine their delight when we sponsored basic school supplies a few months ago!

Oftentimes there would no money to buy food (not even rice), so the family eats camote crops, bananas, or taro daily. The children bring the same food to school as baon. Another family, the wife's brother and his family, lives with them in their tiny nipa hut. The brother does not have the means yet to build his own home so they try to accommodate him to help him survive.

This is a common story among the indigenous people residing in Brgy. Riverside. Indeed, they are the poorest of the poor and the majority have no sustainable livelihood in place.

We'd like to bless them and over 680 more families this Christmas season with a Noche Buena gift pack per family. These are some snaps from our school supplies distribution in Brgy Riverside, Isabela Negros Occ last August 2022!

As the recent typhoon Paeng brought torrential rains to Visayas and their part of the mountains, their children were grateful they had plastic envelopes to protect their school supplies.

Strong winds still bring fear. Surviving typhoon Odette from a year ago doesn't mean the trauma is over. In spite of this difficult experience they have had, our prayer is for them to always remember how God has kept them safe and provided for their needs ❤

These are a few of the things I haven't really posted much about. Sometimes, it's because we hurriedly ship out items that we fail to snap a photo. Occasionally, it is to honor the request of clients who have made us their secret supplier for sold merchandise. .

A lot of what we offer are not "on catalog". I think it is precisely the flexibility of our service that keeps our clients coming back! .
