Find your purpose and leave a positive mark in this world with Pagsama. The longest-running community-based student organization of the UP College of Medicine, Pagsama has produced and continues to hone medical students to be collectivist dreamers, passionate leaders and committed social responders for genuine sustainable progress in the Filipino community. We, the members of UP PAGSAMA, recognizing the important role that medical students have in the development of a relevant society, are united in strengthening and improving our organization. In the midst of the concurrent movements within and beyond the walls of the College of Medicine, in order to cultivate doctors who are community-oriented, if not community-based, UP PAGSAMA aspires to contribute to this goal through activities and projects that are directed towards the community. Along with this is the recognition that the organization and its members as medical students are part of a society that is facing a multitude of challenges and difficulties that must be given solution.

For this afternoon, let’s reignite our community advocacies! 🌇

Part of being a six-star physician is being a social mobilizer. Social mobilization is bringing together the community to raise awareness of and demand for change, strengthening community participation for sustainability and self-reliance. But what is an example of an advocacy that we can support?

Join as we explore this public health advocacy on Women's access to sexual and reproductive health rights, with the help of Ms. Magdalena Bacalando, a community health worker/mobilizer and women’s rights advocate for more than 25 years.

For tomorrow's 'Tales from the Community', we return to the communities we serve to listen to their stories. 🪶🌹

Women's access to their sexual and reproductive health rights still remain difficult in the country even up to this day. Join UP PAGSAMA as we take a deep dive on this particular public health advocacy with the help of Ms. Magdalena Bacalando from Likhaan Center for Women's Health, as she shares her stories from the field as a long time health organizer, community leader, and community health worker for more than 25 years.
