Do yourself a favor and release your masseter and zygomatic muscles. Most people have no idea how much tension and stored trauma sits in their facial muscles. Think about it, if you were constantly clenching your jaw or grinding your teeth without ever releasing those muscles, they’d eventually tighten and restrict movement. The masseter is one of the strongest muscles in the body and connects to the temporal region, which is why tightness here can often contribute to headaches, jaw discomfort, or facial pain. When the facial muscles are tight, they can even pull the face backward as a protective mechanism. Spend a few minutes each day massaging your temporalis with your knuckles and gently releasing your masseters along the jawline for about five minutes. You’ll be surprised how much calmer and lighter your face, and nervous system, can feel afterward.
