🌿 IHM Brings Herbal Medicine Training to Caritas Manila

Last October 21, 2025, the Institute of Herbal Medicine, NIH–UP Manila held a dynamic Herbal Medicine Seminar-Workshop at Caritas Manila, training clinic volunteers from various Manila LGUs and several jail facilities on the safe and effective use of Philippine medicinal plants.

Dr. Cecilia C. Maramba-Lazarte and DIHM faculty including Daisy Mae Bagaoisan, Essel Tolosa and Dr. Jaime Purificacion led sessions on herbal options for common conditions—cough, colds, lice, scabies, cradle cap, arthritis, diarrhea, toothache—and guided participants through practical methods of preparing herbal remedies.

The activity strengthened community capacity to deliver accessible, evidence-based herbal healthcare, especially for vulnerable groups. 🌱

🌿 NIH Flag Raising Ceremony Hosted by the Institute of Herbal Medicine

The Institute of Herbal Medicine (IHM) proudly sponsored this week’s NIH Flag Raising Ceremony, which featured an Inspirational Talk by former DOH Secretary Dr. Paulyn Jean B. Rosell-Ubial. Her message highlighted the importance of herbal medicine, research, and community-centered health initiatives in strengthening the nation’s well-being.
