"The National Congress of Veterinary Medicine Students (NCVMS) is an initiative to gather veterinary students studying in both private and state universities from across the Philippines. The Congress aims to provide a venue for veterinary student leaders to communicate and unite in honor of the veterinary profession, to acquire and share knowledge among veterinary students, to develop the potential of its members, to promote camaraderie and good ties among future colleagues, and to create a network of earnest future veterinarians for upholding the veterinary profession. It will also be a way of reforming the social meaning of the veterinary profession as it continually faces challenges in education, research, career paths and over- all positive recognition in the country."

Our third case, with Dr. Manalo as our key trial attorney, revealed a truth that is often overlooked: Veterinarians are not merely animal healers—they are scientists, educators, and One Health stewards, working across human, animal, and environmental boundaries.

In our second TL case, Dr. De Luna spoke of her life and career centered around her commitment towards animal welfare. Amid the celebration of the Animal Welfare Week, our key attorney of the case highlighted what it truly means to practice veterinary medicine with both 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗌𝗺𝗜𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗌𝗻.

Dr. De Luna presented one central argument: 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗌𝘁 𝗌𝗜𝘁𝗶𝗌𝗻𝗮𝗹— it is a scientific duty and an ethical obligation of the people.

👩‍⚖ After reviewing the evidences and years of advocacy, one conclusion stands out:

From clinics to the laboratories, our speaker has dedicated her expertise to the world of zoonoses, advancing the role of veterinarians in safeguarding both human and animal populations through science-based solutions.

📂🔬 𝘌𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙚𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘿𝙧. Manalo's 𝙁𝙞𝙡𝙚.. 𝘟𝙀𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙚!
She is a veterinarian, an assistant professor, and a zoonoses and epidemiology expert. She is the co-lead of the UPLB Zoonoses Center, Epidemiology and Data Science division. Aside from this, Dr. Manalo is also an alternate scientist member of the UPLB Research Ethics Board and an associate at the DOST National Research Council.

She earned her DVM degree from the University of the Philippines Los Banos where she currently works as an assistant professor in veterinary public health. She also holds a Masters degree in Zoonoses and One Health from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain, further specializing in conservation medicine at the Department of Pathology and Parasitology of the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Brno, Czech Republic. This allowed her to co-author, publish, and present interdisciplinary studies in multiple journals and conferences across the world.

👀 𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘯𝘊𝘎𝘎 2 𝘛𝘊𝘎𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘺: Dr. Manalo is not only a doctor confined inside clinics. She is also a scientist who turns data into defenses against diseases. Throughout her work in the academe, she was able to work on multiple studies focusing on zoonotic parasitology, including the study of ZooTRIP intestinal parasites, Japanese encephalitis virus surveillance, and other epidemiology research.

Behind this title are nights of exhaustion, cups of coffee, silent prayers, and unwavering hope. All those tears and doubts were all worth it. Every sacrifice, every small victory and every moment I wanted to give up led me here. It was never easy, but it was always worth it. 🀍✚

This is to all our newly licensed doctors. You made it, and this moment is yours. Celebrate how far you’ve come, honor the struggles that shaped you, and look forward to the lives you’ll touch from here on. 🩺

Today, we come together and celebrate one of the most fascinating, though often misunderstood group of animals on our planet: 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬! 🐍🐢🊎🐊

From slithering snakes, to the hardiest turtles and tortoises. From the fiercest crocodilians, to the most adaptable lizards, reptiles uphold essential roles in ecosystems all over the globe. Reptiles are responsible for controlling pest populations, serve as both predators and prey in food chains, and are even indicators of our environmental health.

Unfortunately, multiple species of these wonderful animals face threats and duress due to a handful of factors, including habitat loss, difficulties due to climate change, illegal wildlife trading and a general human misunderstanding of their species. Some reptiles are classified as critically endangered in present day due to these threats, with some populations rapidly declining at alarming rates.

Reptile Awareness Day is not merely a celebration for the lives of these animals, but also a reminder of the importance of conservation and education. By learning more about these incredible animals and supporting any effort, no matter how big or small, to protect them and their habitats, we can all contribute and help ensure that they may continue to live and thrive for generations to come.

Let us not fear reptiles, rather be fascinated by them. Let us not forget them, rather celebrate their purpose and contributions to our planet. Let us all do our part in protecting these precious creatures, in turn, allowing them to maintain the balance of our biodiversities and our earth as a whole. 🀍🩵💙

As we celebrate today’s Mental Health Day, let’s not forget to take a break and 𝐏𝐀𝐖𝐒 🐟 for a moment.

𝐏ause. Breathe in, breathe out, and let go of your worries. It’s perfectly fine to take a step back for a moment; even the strongest heroes need to rest. ☁

𝐀ppreciate. Speak with your heart and acknowledge yourself — love begins within you. 🀍

𝐖onder and self-reflect. Communicate and check in with yourself. If you’re having some trouble, a friend or a mental health professional is always at your service. 🏃🏻🏃🏻‍♀🍃

𝐒pread love and pawsitivity. Have meaningful conversations with your loved ones — family, friends, or your furry pets. It doesn’t have to be something big; small acts of care also matter. 🊮

In our chosen field, the long hours, emotional challenges, and constant responsibilities can take a toll on our well-being. That’s why days like this remind us to pause, breathe, and check in with ourselves — and to lend our shoulders to one another. 🫂
