The Non-communicable Disease Mentorship program has finally commenced through a recognition ceremony for the Barangay Health Workers of the selected municipalities of Butig, Tubaran, Lumbaca Unayan,Pagayawan and Marogong.

Ms. Samira Gutoc , known as a health and women empowerment champion of Lanao del Sur was invited as a keynote speaker to the said recognition ceremony held at Marawi Resort Hotel on December 15, 2022.

The Non-Communicable Disease mentorship program was funded by the Medicins Sans Frontieres in close coordination with the IPHO Technical Services led by Dr. Apasrah Mapupuno and the NCD unit headed by Nadjerah Macasindel, RN in order to provide training and skills enhancement for the Barangay Health Workers of the said municipalities.

On December 14, 2022, the IPHO-LDS Conducted assessment and monitoring of trained healthworker for the performance of visual inspection by using acetic acid wash (VIA) for cervical cancer screening
of Rural Health Unit of Amai Manabilang Municipality.

Cervical cancer screening aims to detect precancerous changes, which, if not treated, may lead to cancer. In resource-poor settings, 30 to 49 year old women comprise the target audience because cervical cancer is rare in women under 30 and most common in women over 40 years.

FIRST IN LANAO-- WAO achieve ZERO OPEN DEFECATION! ✨

Wao, Lanao del Sur took a remarkable leap as the MOH - BARMM Integrated Provincial Health Office - Lanao del Sur officially declared the Municipality as a Municipal - Wide Zero Open Defecation (ZOD) on December 2-- first ever in Lanao del Sur. Said activity is anchored on the commemoration of ZOD Campaign powered with the theme "Pangalagaan ang Kalusugan, Sanitasyon ay Pahalagahan".

Dr. Alinader Minalang of IPHO-LDS applaud the municipal government of Wao on their commitment to preserve and promote the importance of sanitation for their health and wellness within their locality. The recognition given by Dr. Allen is bound to become a great change and influence for the province of Lanao del Sur.
