Pertussis, sometimes known as whooping cough, is a highly contagious respiratory ailment caused by a bacterium called Bordetella pertussis. It mostly affects the airways and can cause severe coughing fits, particularly in newborns and young children. 🚸👩‍👦

𝑺𝒚𝒎𝒑𝒕𝒐𝒎𝒔:
📍Symptoms resemble a regular cold, including a runny nose, sneezing, and mild fever.
📍Severe coughing spells occur with a distinct "whooping" sound during inhalation.
📍Coughing can lead to vomiting, trouble breathing, and tiredness.

𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏:
‼️ Spreads via respiratory droplets when infected individuals cough or sneeze.
‼️ It is very contagious, particularly in the early stages when symptoms mimic a cold.

𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏:
🧼🫧 Maintain proper respiratory hygiene by covering coughs and sneezes, washing hands often, and avoiding close contact with sick people.
