Philippine Red Cross - Masbate Chapter

Philippine Red Cross - Masbate Chapter The story of the Philippine Red Cross is the story of men and women from all walks of life who have dedicated themselves to the service of humanity. Save Lives.

Born officially in 1947, but with roots that traces back to the revolutionary days, the Philippine Red Cross has truly become the premier humanitarian organization in the country, committed to provide quality life-saving services that protect the life and dignity especially of indigent Filipinos in vulnerable situations. It is the tale of hundreds of thousands of ordinary people who devoted their

time and resources to help the poorest of the poor. Professionally trained and truly compassionate, these men and women are ready to lend a helping hand to those in need – whoever, whenever and wherever they may be. In all its 67 years of reputable existence, the Philippine Red Cross has lived through many changes that were intended to help more people. Where it used to be involved only in providing blood and in disaster-related activities, the Philippine Red Cross now focuses on a holistic approach to uplift the condition of the most vulnerable. Where it used to offer short-term palliatives, it now offers a wider array of humanitarian services ranging from preventive medicine to therapeutic counseling, to youth leadership. At present, the Philippine Red Cross provides six major services: Blood Services, Disaster Management Services, Safety Services, Health Services, Social Services, Red Cross Youth and Volunteer Services. All of them embody the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement – humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality. These values guide and inspire all Red Cross staff and volunteers, to whom being a Red Crosser is more than just a philosophy but a way of life. Join the Red Cross. We take pride in urging all Filipinos to take part in the heroism of the Philippine Red Cross by becoming a full-fledged member, volunteer, or donor. Philippine Red Cross marks 79 years of unwavering humanitarian service

Today (April 15), the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) commemorates its 79th anniversary, celebrating nearly eight decades of steadfast commitment to humanitarian service and nation-building. Across its 102 chapters nationwide, this milestone serves as a moment to reaffirm its mission, strengthen its unified direction, and honor the enduring spirit of volunteerism that has defined the organization since its founding.

For nearly eight decades, the PRC has existed in the background of the nation’s most defining moments. It is there when floodwaters rise in the middle of the night, when earthquakes reduce homes to rubble, when blood is urgently needed in hospital corridors, and when communities begin the long, uncertain process of rebuilding.

What makes the PRC distinct is not just the scale of its operations, but the culture it has quietly built: one rooted in preparedness, discipline, and above all, humanity. Its volunteers—now numbering in two million—are not simply responders; they are neighbors helping neighbors, strangers becoming lifelines, ordinary Filipinos choosing, again and again, to be part of something larger than themselves.

Alongside them are the organization’s donors and partners, whose generosity and trust make it possible to sustain and expand humanitarian efforts. Every contribution, whether time, resources, or expertise, becomes part of a larger chain of hope that reaches those who need it most.

Beyond national borders, the PRC is part of a global humanitarian family—working alongside the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as other National Societies around the world. It is a reminder that while the PRC serves the Filipino people, it is also part of a broader movement bound by a shared commitment to humanity.

Under the leadership of PRC Chairman & CEO Richard Gordon and Secretary General Dr. Gwendolyn Pang, the organization has strengthened its ability to respond with speed and precision. Investments in logistics, information technology, and training have transformed the PRC into a highly capable humanitarian network: one that can mobilize quickly, reach far-flung areas, and deliver aid efficiently.

It is not just “Volunteers + Logistics + Information Technology,” but trust built over time, credibility earned through action, and compassion sustained across generations.

At 79, the PRC’s role becomes even more vital: not just as a responder to emergencies, but as a steady presence that reassures Filipinos that they are not alone.

=================================

The Philippine Red Cross PRC Masbate Chapter would like to formally inform the public and all partner institutions regarding the implementation of Department of Health (DOH) Administrative Order No. 2026-0003, which prescribes the updated maximum allowable blood service fees for blood and blood products.

🩸 Effective Date: April 5, 2026
📄 References:
DOH Administrative Order No. 2026-0003
PRC Administrative Memo No. 6, Series of 2026

These adjustments cover the processing, testing, storage, and professional services necessary to ensure the safety and quality of blood and blood products for patients in need.

📌Why the change?
After a nationwide survey of 166 Blood Service Facilities (BSFs), it was determined that previous fee structures (set in 2015) no longer covered the rising costs of:
📍Essential testing and safety screenings
📍Storage and logistics
📍24/7 operational requirements

💡 All concerned are hereby advised to strictly comply with the approved rates. No additional fees shall be collected beyond what is authorized. We also encourage all partner institutions to disseminate this information to their respective departments to promote standardized pricing, transparency, and equitable access to safe blood services.

This update ensures that our blood facilities remain sustainable while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.

𝘈 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘌𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴. 𝘈 𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘕𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘍𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘴

On this solemn Good Friday, the Philippine Red Cross joins the nation in reflecting on the ultimate act of sacrifice, compassion, and unconditional love.

As we remember a life given for others, may we be reminded of our own calling—to serve beyond ourselves, to stand with those in need, and to bring hope where it is needed most.

In every drop of blood donated, every life saved, and every hand extended in times of crisis, we continue this legacy of selfless love.

Because in moments of darkness, humanity must always rise — Always First. Always Ready. Always There.
