🚑 LGU Matanog: A Proud Beneficiary of the PCSO Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program

The Local Government Unit of Matanog is honored and grateful to announce that our municipality has been identified as one of the recipients of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program (MTVDP).

This milestone places LGU Matanog among the 89% (1,540) of the 1,700 target beneficiaries nationwide who have benefited from this crucial medical support initiative. The program serves as a testament to PCSO’s unwavering dedication to strengthening local health systems and ensuring that even the most remote communities have access to timely and reliable emergency transport services.

In a recent turnover ceremony, a total of 158 medical transport vehicles were officially handed over to various municipalities across Mindanao, covering the provinces of Davao, Sarangani, Cotabato, Basilan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Sur, and Maguindanao del Norte. Of these, 12 units were proudly awarded to the Province of Maguindanao del Norte, including one for the Municipality of Matanog.

Each Medical Transport Vehicle is fully equipped with essential medical tools and emergency response equipment to support efficient patient care and transport, including:

🚑 Portable stretcher
💨 Portable oxygen
♿ Wheelchair
🩺 Wall-mounted BP apparatus
💊 Medicine cabinet
🆘 Emergency medical equipment

The Medical Transport Vehicle will play a vital role in enhancing the municipality’s capacity to respond to medical emergencies. It will significantly aid in transporting patients from rural and remote areas to referring hospitals, especially in critical situations where every minute counts. This ensures that our residents receive prompt medical attention, helping save lives and improve health outcomes.

This initiative demonstrates PCSO’s steadfast commitment to public health and welfare, extending life-saving assistance beyond financial aid and into the realm of essential logistics and emergency response.

The Municipality of Matanog, under the leadership of Mayor Zohria S. Bansil-Guro, extends its deepest appreciation to the PCSO for their continued support and trust.

This donation marks another step toward achieving a healthier, safer, and more resilient community — where accessible healthcare services are a reality for every IMatanogn.

Turnover of Anthropometric Tools to RHU-Matanog for Distribution to All 8 Barangays
The Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Matanog officially received a complete set of anthropometric tools, which are set to be distributed to all 8 Barangay Health Stations (BHS) within the municipality.
These tools will enhance the capacity of local health workers in monitoring the nutritional status of the population—particularly among children—and support the early detection and management of malnutrition within communities.

This provision is part of the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP) under the governance of the Ministry of Health – BARMM, with the support of the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) – Maguindanao, and in partnership with UNICEF Philippines. It is further complemented by nutrition commodities from the Provincial Nutrition Department of Maguindanao del Norte.

One of the key beneficiaries of this initiative are the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), who serve as frontliners in delivering essential nutrition services at the grassroots level. The availability of standardized anthropometric tools—such as height boards, weighing scales, and MUAC tapes—will significantly aid each BNS in accurately assessing the growth and nutritional status of children and pregnant women in their respective barangays. With these tools, BNS can now perform routine growth monitoring, identify at-risk individuals, and refer cases of undernutrition or overnutrition more efficiently and with greater confidence.

Furthermore, having reliable equipment ensures data accuracy for community-level nutrition reporting and decision-making, which is vital in crafting timely interventions and allocating resources where they are most needed. This support empowers BNS to fulfill their roles more effectively and strengthens the overall health system at the barangay level.

The turnover ceremony was made more meaningful with the presence and full support of Municipal Mayor Zohria S. Bansil-Guro, alongside members of the Municipal Council, the Municipal Administrator, and several Barangay Captains from across Matanog. Their attendance reflects the strong commitment of the local government to improving health and nutrition outcomes and ensuring that frontline workers are well-equipped to serve their communities.

This event marks another important milestone in Matanog’s continuing efforts to strengthen local health and nutrition services. It reaffirms the collective commitment to ensure that even the most geographically isolated and disadvantaged communities are not left behind in the pursuit of better health outcomes.

A united effort for a healthier and well-nourished Matanog.

Strengthening Community-Based Nutrition Services in Matanog!

On September 23, 2025, the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP),under the leadership of the Ministry of Health–BARMM and with support from the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO)–Maguindanao, successfully turned over a set of anthropometric tools to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Matanog, with valuable assistance from UNICEF Philippines.

These tools are vital for accurate measurement of children’s growth indicators and will be instrumental in supporting the day-to-day work of our Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS). In particular, they will aid in the delivery of targeted nutrition interventions and therapy sessions, as well as in the implementation of the upcoming Operation Timbang (OPT) Plus.

The LGU Matanog Health and Nutrition Department expressed deep appreciation for this initiative, recognizing its direct impact on improving the quality of community-based nutrition services. With enhanced tools and support, frontline workers are now better equipped to monitor child growth and address malnutrition in a timely and effective manner.

This collaborative effort highlights our collective commitment to advancing child health and nutrition outcomes in the Bangsamoro region.
