LGU Matanog Leads Immediate Medical and Rescue Response in Langkong

Early this morning, while on our way to work, a road accident occurred within the municipality.
The LGU Matanog Health Department immediately extended assistance to the victims, with the BLGU and BNS of Langkong joining the immediate rescue efforts.

Through the prompt action and leadership of our Municipal Mayor, the injured individual was swiftly brought to the Rural Health Unit (RHU) for initial management and was subsequently transferred to the nearest referral hospital for further treatment.

This swift and coordinated response highlights the strong collaboration between the Municipal Government, the Health Department, and the Barangay Local Government Unit in ensuring timely emergency assistance. The LGU Matanog remains committed to protecting the health, safety, and well-being of its constituents, especially during emergencies.

JOINT LOCAL HEALTH BOARD (LHB) AND MUNICIPAL NUTRITION COMMITTEE (MNC)
MONTHLY MEETING

The Joint Monthly Meeting of the Local Health Board (LHB) and the Municipal Nutrition Committee (MNC) was successfully conducted and yielded productive and meaningful discussions. The meeting was actively participated in by members of both committees, reflecting a strong and united commitment to further strengthen health and nutrition programs in the Municipality of Matanog.

During the meeting, updates on the LGU Matanog Health and Nutrition Programs were presented. This included a detailed discussion on the Operation Timbang Plus (OPT), highlighting the challenges encountered during implementation as well as the good practices and strategies successfully adopted by different barangays. These insights served as a valuable basis for improving program delivery and addressing gaps in nutrition services.

The committee also discussed the status and implementation of the MRSIA Program, focusing on strategies to reduce maternal risks and ensure timely and appropriate care for pregnant women. In line with this, the Safe Motherhood Program (SMP) was reviewed, emphasizing maternal and child health services, prenatal and postnatal care, and the importance of safe delivery practices within the community.

Updates on previously passed resolutions were likewise presented to assess progress, ensure proper implementation, and identify necessary actions for sustained program effectiveness. Additionally, the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Program was discussed, highlighting ongoing efforts in prevention, early detection, and management of lifestyle-related diseases through health education, screening, and community-based interventions.

We sincerely thank all committee members for their active participation. Special thanks to our Barangay Chairmen, headed by our ABC President, for their full support and continued commitment to health and nutrition programs

Overall, the meeting strengthened collaboration among stakeholders and reaffirmed the shared goal of improving the health and nutrition status of the people of Matanog through coordinated planning, implementation, and continuous support.

TURNOVER OF MEDICINES AND ANTHROPOMETRIC TOOLS TO RHU MATANOG

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our generous donor of medicines, the Office of Former MP Tarhata M. Maglangit, in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MOH) – BARMM and the Bangsamoro Women for Peace & Development, Inc. (BMWEPDI), for their invaluable support to the LGU Matanog’s Health and Nutrition Department and Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Matanog.

We also sincerely thank our committed partners from the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP) under the governance of the Ministry of Health – BARMM, with the support of the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) – Maguindanao, and in partnership with UNICEF Philippines. This initiative is further strengthened by nutrition commodities provided by the Provincial Nutrition Department of Maguindanao del Norte.

This turnover of medicines and anthropometric tools will greatly help improve the delivery of both health and nutrition services of RHU Matanog, enabling them to better serve the people of Matanog,especially mothers, children, and other vulnerable sectors of the community.

A New Beginning: First Batch of Cleft Lip and Palate Patients Sent for Free Surgery

Today marks a meaningful milestone for our community.

Our first batch of beneficiaries for the free surgical operation for cleft lip and cleft palate patients has been sent to Davao City.

This life-changing initiative is made possible through the leadership and support of Mayor Zohria and Vice Mayor Sanaira, in partnership with the Maharlika Charity Foundation Inc. (MCFI).

We are grateful to everyone involved in bringing hope, healing, and brighter smiles to our beneficiaries and their families. 💙

BNS Monthly Meeting – January 2026

The BNS Monthly Meeting for the month of January 2026 was successfully held, serving as a venue to assess accomplishments, share experiences, and strengthen collaboration among Barangay Nutrition Scholars.

One of the main highlights of the meeting was the presentation of short video reports from each BNS per barangay, focusing on the challenges encountered during the previous and ongoing Operation Timbang (OPT). These video presentations provided a clearer and more engaging view of the realities in the field, including issues on data gathering, community participation, and implementation concerns. Each presentation encouraged open discussion, allowing fellow BNS and supervisors to share insights, recommendations, and possible solutions.

Another important agenda was the checking and validation of the monthly accomplishment reports. This activity ensured accurate documentation of accomplishments, identified gaps, and helped align ongoing activities with program goals.

Adding value to the meeting was the presence of student immersions from Matanog Senior High School. The students attentively observed the proceedings, particularly the video presentations, and were given the opportunity to share their feedback and reflections. Their fresh perspectives and observations contributed positively to the discussion and highlighted the importance of youth engagement in community nutrition and public health initiatives.

Overall, the January 2026 BNS Monthly Meeting strengthened teamwork, encouraged knowledge sharing, and reinforced the commitment of BNS to continuously improve nutrition programs and services in their respective barangays.

MONTHLY BARANGAY NUTRITION SCHOLAR (BNS) MEETING_December 2025

The monthly Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) Meeting was successfully conducted in December 2025, serving as an important platform to assess ongoing nutrition-related activities and strengthen coordination among BNS members.

During the meeting, the following agenda were thoroughly discussed:

📌Updates on the conduct of Operation Timbang Plus (OPT)-Detailed updates were shared regarding the ongoing conduct of OPT, including accomplishments, challenges encountered in the field, and strategies to ensure accurate data collection and complete coverage of target beneficiaries.

📌Submission and review of accomplishment reports BNS members submitted their respective monthly accomplishment reports, which were reviewed to monitor performance, document activities, and identify areas for improvement.

📌Planning and scheduling of OPT activities
The team also discussed and finalized the schedule of upcoming OPT activities. It was agreed that the entire BNS team will work together, particularly in far-flung sitios, to ensure efficient implementation, better coordination, and proper assistance in areas that are difficult to access.

The meeting emphasized teamwork, accountability, and commitment among BNS members in delivering quality nutrition services and improving the overall nutrition status of the community.

Strengthening Community Health Services: Highlights of the 4th Local Special Body (LSB) Meeting

The 4th Local Special Body (LSB) Meeting was convened with the participation of the Local Health Board (LHB) and the Municipal Nutrition Committee, aiming to further strengthen health governance and improve the delivery of health services in the Municipality of Matanog.
One of the major points discussed was the importance of voluntary blood donation, emphasizing its critical role in saving lives and ensuring a steady blood supply for emergencies, surgeries, and hospital requirements. Participants highlighted the need for continuous community education and stronger advocacy at the barangay level.

The meeting also provided an update on the upcoming Matanog District Hospital, which involves the conversion of the former Wamy Clinic. This development is expected to significantly enhance access to healthcare services, reduce referrals to distant hospitals, and improve overall health outcomes for residents.

Another key agenda was the call for full support from all BLGUs for the upcoming OPT, stressing the importance of barangay participation to ensure smooth implementation and maximum community coverage. The medical assistance being extended by LGU Matanog to CRMC and Sanitarium Hospital was likewise discussed, reinforcing collaboration among health facilities to better serve patients.

Additionally, the meeting served as a platform to inform and remind BLGUs of previous agreements made by LHB members. The attending BLGUs,Sapad, Bayanga Sur, and Langkong,shared practical techniques and best practices on encouraging community participation in RHU programs. These included effective monitoring of TB patients, addressing non-compliance with immunization, and strengthening engagement in other health programs through active barangay involvement.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment among stakeholders to uphold agreed actions, improve coordination, and work collectively toward the sustained improvement of public health services in Matanog.
